Lenten Journey with the Holy Spirit The Small Faith Communities invite you to a workshop: “Lenten Journey with the Holy Spirit”Saturday, March 14th at Fr. Simon Center Area A from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Doors open at 8:30AM. We will also have Prayer Teams to pray for you. There is a $20 dollar fee which will cover a continental breakfast, lunch, snacks, beverages and materials. Temporada de Resfriados y Gripe: Se le recuerda que use el sentido común en su participación en la misa y en la recepción de la Sagrada Comunión del cáliz durante la temporada anual de resfriados y gripe. Si se siente enfermo o cree que pudo haber estado expuesto a un virus, debe abstenerse de participar de la Sangre de Cristo y no tomar del cáliz. Del mismo modo, debe abstenerse de ofrecer su mano a los demás en señal de paz (o durante la oración del Señor). Una sonrisa y un sincero “La paz sea con usted” deberían ser suficientes. Del mismo modo, si no se siente cómodo compartiendo el signo de la paz o recibiendo la Sagrada Comu-nión del cáliz comunal por temor a la infección, no debe sentir presión para hacerlo. Todos debemos ser conscientes de asuntos tan delicados en la vida íntima de la comunidad cristiana y debemos esperar que algunos se abstengan departicipar en la liturgia o el signo de la paz y el cáliz comunal por el cuidado de nuestro bienestar y no por nuestra falta de caridad o falta de piedad.

Este año, el Señor nos otorga, una vez más, un momento favorable para prepara-rnos para celebrar con corazones renovados el gran misterio de la muerte y resur-rección de Jesús, la piedra angular de nuestra vida cristiana personal y comuni-taria. Debemos regresar continuamente a este misterio en mente y corazón, ya que seguirá creciendo dentro de nosotros en la medida en que estamos abiertos a su poder espiritual y respondemos con libertad y generosidad.

MESSAGE OF HIS HOLINESS POPE FRANCIS FOR LENT 2020 “We implore you on behalf of Christ,

be reconciled to God” (2 Cor 5:20)This year the Lord grants us, once again, a favorable time to prepare to celebrate with renewed hearts the great mystery of the death and resurrection of Jesus, the cornerstone of our personal and communal Christian life. We must continually re-turn to this mystery in mind and heart, for it will continue to grow within us in the measure that we are open to its spiritual power and respond with freedom and generosity.

WINTER COLD AND FLU SEASON: You are reminded to use common sense in your participation at mass and the reception of Holy Communion from the chalice during the annual cold and flu season. If you are feeling ill or think you may have been exposed to a virus, you should refrain from partaking of the Blood of Christ from the communal chalice. In the same way, you should refrain from offering your hand to others at the sign of peace (or during the Lord’s Prayer). A smile & a kind, “Peace be with you,” should suffice. Likewise, if you are uncomfort-able sharing the sign of peace or receiving Holy Communion from the communal chalice for fear of infection, you should feel no pressure to do so. All of us must be aware of such sensitive matters in the intimate life of the Christian community and we should expect that some will refrain from participation in the liturgy or the sign of peace and the communal chalice out of care for our wellbeing and not out of unkindness or a lack of piety.
