CAL Guide - Online Assessment (Open Book/ Case Study)

1. Log in to CAL using the following link
https://cal.kln.ac.lk
2. Once you logged in, you will be in your dashboard. All your online Assessment courses are named in
following format:
(Online Assessment) COMC 12302- Management Capacity Building
3. Inside the Course page, you will find Online Assessment details, Question paper, Submission link and
all other relevant documents.

4. Please refer to the below screenshots to upload the PDF to CAL.
You should upload the answers by scanning and converting the file into a
single PDF including the Cover Page.
Save/Rename the PDF file with your student number. (Ex: BM_2018_000.pdf, CM_2018_000.pdf)

● After you convert the answer script into a single pdf file including the cover page, click
on the submission link.
● After you click the submission link; the page mentioned below will appear

Before the Due date and time, you
need to upload the answer script
Click on the ‘Add submission’ button
when you are ready with pdf file.

● After you click the “Add submission” button ; the page mentioned below will appear
Then, the File picker dialog box will appear as shown below.
If you clicked “Add..” icon, instead of drag and drop the file to the submission area, the “File picker”
dialog box will open. Then select “Upload a file” link (left hand side).
After uploading the file, students have to save the file using the “ Save changes” button.
To upload a single file; click
this icon (Add.. icon)
OR you can drag and drop
files here to add them
Click on the ‘Choose File’ icon and
select your answer script and click
open.
Then, Click on ‘Upload this file’

Once you clicked “Upload this file” button, File Submission area will filled with the file you uploaded.
After “Save changes”, Submission status window will appear. Still your submission is in “Draft (not
submitted)” mode and click the “Submit assignment” button to finish and complete the submission.
Note: After clicking “Submit assignment” button, you will not be able to change the file again.
If you want to edit the uploaded file, click ’Edit Submission’ button.
Save the file by clicking
‘Save Changes’.

Once you successfully submitted the file, “submission status” will be changed to “Submitted for
grading”. And that’s the end of the uploading process.
If you want to edit the
uploaded file, click ’Edit
Submission’ button.
To finish the submission, click
the ‘Submit assignment’ button.
