mathematics achievers.

Malarayat, SSIS is declared as the champion in the Scholastic Readers’ Cup Synergy Award and
Top 5 in the Readers’ Cup. These two National Awards simply justify that SSIS is a center for
excellence in reading.
As mentioned by Katherine Paterson and shared by Dr. Beng in her speech during the
awarding ceremony, “It is not enough to simply teach children to read; we have to give them
something worth reading. Something that will stretch their imaginations- something that will help
them make sense of their own lives and encourage them to reach out toward people whose lives
are quite different from now.”, the school is more committed to make our students READERS OF
TODAY AND LEADERS OF TOMORROW.

GRADING COMPONENTS AND ASSESSMENT PROTOCOL
To be counted in the Perfect Attendance award, the physical presence of the child in class is the main criterion. Therefore, these
are the grounds for disqualification: 1. Students who incur an absence or even a fraction of a minute of
tardiness in coming to school are disqualified from receiving the award. (Absences due to attendance to official school activities
outside the school may still qualify to receive the award.)
2. Students who stay in the clinic for more than five minutes with only a minor complaint are disqualified from receiving the award.
3. Students who stay in the clinic for more than an hour due to a major complaint are disqualified from receiving the award.
4. Students whose parents sign a Leave of Absence Undertaking from attending school/ classes for whatever reason are
disqualified from receiving the award.
Please be guided accordingly.
In SSIS, we fashion students to be excellent in every way- in
academics, in sports and inclinations, and most importantly, in values.
SSIS believes that by instilling the proper values to the children, these
children could achieve more, lead more, and make an amazing
difference. The following guidelines will help the students bag one of the
most coveted and elusive year-end award- the Values Excellence Award.
1. A student must have no grade lower than A (average) from the first
to the final grade in the following components of the Expected
Schoolwide Learning Results (ESLRs): A1, A2, A4, A5, A6, A7, E1, E2,
and E3.
2. A student must have a VS (Very Superior) average at the end of the
academic year in all the Character components: B1, B2, B3, B4, and
B5. A student must have a VS in all these components in the Third
Term. There must be only one S (Superior) mark either on the First
or Second Term as long as the average is still a VS.
3. A student must have at least an S average at the end of the
academic year in the following components: A8, A9, C1, C2, C3, C4, D1,
D2, D3, D4, D5, and D6. A student must have an S in all these
components in the Third Term. There must be only one AA (Above
Average) mark in either the First or Second Term as long as the final
average is still an S.
4. A student must have a VS (Very Satisfactory) average at the end of
the academic year in Deportment. A student must have a VS in this
component in the Third Term. There must only be one S
(Satisfactory) mark either on the First or second Term as long as
the final average is still a VS.

PARENTING CORNER TWENTY-THREEFIC SSIS!
“There is no such thing as a self-made man. You will reach your goals
only with the help of others.” – George Shinn
Truly, goals can be achieved if everyone will work hand-in-hand!
Last academic year was a success because the teachers, staff, students,
and the parents helped each other to make SSIS a great international
school. The students’ achievements are sure indication that SSIS thrives to
achieve excellence for its stakeholders. With this, we would like to share to
everyone through this SP Bulletin the highlights of the last academic year
2017-2018.
9. SSIS Batangas received a national recognition in reading! With growth
mindset, grit, and a burning desire of the students, teachers, and parents
to work as one, Stonyhurst Southville International School Batangas
Campus ranked FIRST in the Scholastic Readers Cup participated in by
207 schools in the Philippines! This recognition gives honor to the school
because it is a concrete proof that the students and the teachers are
continuously committed to achieve great things. For this academic year,
the school will develop different strategies in order to make the students
love reading more. With the integration of the academic rigor, the
students will surely maintain a very commendable performance in
reading.
10. The school got another six years of accreditation from WASC. To ensure
that it is still conforming to the international standards, SSIS subjected itself
to the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)
Accreditation. Six WASC Accreditors from Asia and the Pacific visited the
school last March 04-08. The Visiting Team focused on verifying the
accuracy of the self- study report prepared by the school. The
accreditors observed different classes, engaged in some talks with the
students and parent representatives, and sit down with the different
WASC Focus Groups. In addition to that, they also checked the facilities
of the school and took note of the improvements observed from their last
visit. Months after the visit, SSIS received the most awaited reaccreditation
from WASC and it is a sure proof that SSIS is truly conforming to
INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS.
