HOW TO USE FACEBOOK Put a “Like” badge on your website Post interesting info that will get

people discussing the post Clean up spam!

Page 13: CA Federation of Republican Women Presentation

FACEBOOK DOs Have a social networking plan Hire a professional to create & manage

your page Post relevant content when it’s relevant Respond to questions and comments Provide information on your candidate or

organization Have a tab for volunteers and donations Use Facebook as a breaking news website

Page 14: CA Federation of Republican Women Presentation

FACEBOOK DON’Ts Post only events and fundraisers. Create the page and never post: Having a social

network & not using it consistently or effectively is just as bad as not having one at all!

Post everyday just to post Leave spam on your Page Let questions or comments go un-responded Have too many admins Assume because someone is on Facebook, they

can manage your Page.

CAMPAIGNS IN THE DIGITAL AGE

Potentially 41-70 million US voters on Facebook

2008 showed us that campaigns have changed

To create & maintain a solid social network takes significant time and energy

Comparing the cost of multiple mail pieces to the cost of a social networking consultant who posts fresh and relevant content – the ROI is stunning
