How to use a number line

• A number line is used to show the distance from zero!•A number line can help you to add and subtract!

To solve an addition problem:Start at the first number in the problem.Then, move forward/up (right) as many “jumps” as the

second number.Example: 3+1= _4_

Put your finger or pencil at 3.Then jump ahead 1 spot!The number you land on is your answer!
