1.1 The number sets

7.1 Arithmetic Sequences A sequence is a set of

quantities arranged in a definite order.

An arithmetic sequence has 10 as its first term and a common difference of -4. Find its 12th term.

7.2 Geometric sequences Sequences where each term is obtained by

multiplying the previous one by a fixed quantity are known as geometric sequences.

The term v1, of a geometric sequence is 10 and its fourth term v4 is 156.25

Find the common ration, r of the geometric sequence.

Given that Tn is the sum of the first n term of the geometric sequence. Calculate T7 the sum of the first seven terms of the geometric sequence

7.3 Currency conversions Set up proportions Susi leaves Thailand and travels to

Indonesia. She has 15000 Thai baht (THB) and uses these to buy Indonesian rupiah (IDH). The exchange rate is 3.28352 THB buys 1000 IDR. Calculate the total number of Indonesian rupiah Susi receives.

7.4 Compound interest

$1500 is placed in a savings account that pays 11% annual interest compounded annually. Find:

the amount in the account after 10 years.

the interest paid after 10 years.
