An angel warned the wisemen not to go back and tell Herod that they had found King Jesus because Herod wanted to kill Jesus. So the wisemen went home another way and Jesus was kept safe.

Some very clever men from a far away country, looked at the sky. They saw a new bright star. The men were very excited. “A king has been born,” they said. “We must go and worship him.”

The wisemen bowed down before Jesus and worshipped Him. They knew Jesus was God’s son, and the Saviour. The wisemen gave Jesus special gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

When Mary opened the door, she was very surprised to see the wisemen. The wisemen said that they had been to King Herod’s palace to try to find the new born king!

The wisemen packed the things they needed for the long journey. They also took some expensive presents for the new King. The star shone very brightly. They followed the star.

The wisemen went to look for the baby at King Herod’s palace in Jerusalem. King Herod’s priests said that the king would be born in Bethlehem. “Come and tell me when you find him.” said King Herod. Herod wanted to kill this new king!

So the wisemen set out to go to Bethlehem. They saw the star shining in the east, and they followed it. The star stopped above the house where Mary and the young Jesus were living.
