What lives in the Rainforest? Rainforests are populated with insects,
arachnids, reptiles, amphibians, birds, and mammals
There are also several species of plant life that thrive here
Insects and arachnids Most of the animal
species found in the rainforest are insects
Some include butterflies, beetles, grasshoppers, and caterpillars
Arachnids that live in the rainforest include scorpions, spiders, and tarantulas
Insects
Arachnids
Reptiles and Amphibians Tropical rainforests are home to a huge
diversity of reptiles and amphibiansSome reptiles are snakes, lizards, turtles, and
crocodiles Some amphibians include frogs, toads,
salamanders, newts, and caecilians. These are found in virtually all rainforest
habitats, ranging from the high canopy to streams and creeks.
Many of these are endangered species
Reptiles
Amphibians
Birds
-Tropical rainforests are home to many kinds of birds - Some include parrots, hornbills, toucans, and raptors like eagles, hawks, and vultures. -Some migratory birds live in rainforests during the winter and return to cooler regions during the spring and summer. -Some of the migratory birds travel to the United States , and Central America -Many of these birds are on the endangered species list

Birds
Mammals - Tropical rainforests are home to many
kinds of mammals ranging in size- The large mammals include jungle cats
like: tigers, jaguars, and leopards- Primates in the rainforest include
monkeys and apes- Most rainforest mammals are small,
nocturnal, and inconspicuous some are bats and rodents
- Even though we think of the large mammals when we think of the rainforest the small mammals are the most abundant
- As with most of the creatures in the rainforest most of the mammals are on the endangered species list
Plant LifePlant life is extremely
abundant in the RainforestMost modern medicine is
derived from Rainforest plantsSome include the blue gum,
the bromeliad, ferns, banana and cacao trees, ginger, orchids, the passion flower, plumerias, and rubber trees
The plants here contribute to most of the worlds oxygen supply
Climate The Rainforest climate is very humid and
warm all year round. It is part of the tropical moist climate zone. The average rainfall is anywhere from 100 to
260 inches a year. The average daily temperature is about 77
degree Fahrenheit.
Location The Rainforest is located near the Earths
equator, it covers only six percent of the Earth, but is home to more species of plants and animals than anywhere else in the world.
There are Rainforests in Central America, Africa, the Amazon, Australia, and Southern Asia.
Rainforest are only found in a specific part of the world
They are located anywhere from the Tropic of Capricorn south of the equator to the Tropic of Cancer which is north of the equator.
