COMMITTEE REPORTS Events Committee Chair is Kim Piazza We hope those of you who joined us for our 1st Committee Chili Cook Off had a great time! For those of you who missed it, don't miss this great event next year. Thank you to all the committee members who shared their awesome chili's and congratulations to the Home Tour Committee and Kim Piazza for winning the cook off! Congratulations to all the 2019 board members. Our 40th year will be a great one! Make sure to RSVP as soon as possible for the Christmas Dinner and Installation to be held at La Conner Yacht Club on Tuesday December 18th at 5:30 pm. We have adopted 2 families for Christmas, one from Whidbey Island and one from Skagit County. If you would like to contribute to these families, please bring cash or a Walmart gift card to the Christmas party or you can drop them off at the SICBA Office. Please RSVP at www.SICBAEvents.com

Membership Committee Chair is Roy Mureno Thank you to every SICBA member who has recruited a new member this year, who has worked on the three recruitment call-a-thons we have held, and who has made retention calls to keep our members in the association! Your efforts to build and retain membership are appreciated, and they are paying off – as of this writing we have over 475 members and a 90% retention rate! We still need to keep recruiting new members, and we’re going to have 2 great reward events for our recruiters in 2019. The Peer to Pier Cruise has been a great event for the past 3 years and we’ll be doing it again in September. We’ll also have a special reward event for our Spring drive – qualifying recruiters for the Spring drive will be attending a Mariners game! A big thank you to all of the SICBA members who have sponsored our membership events! If you’re interested in sponsoring a membership event for 2019, please call (360) 757-6916 or email Jonathan at [email protected].

Marketing Committee Chair is Topher Ruxton As you may have heard, we are updating our website and have been busy making the transition to Growth Zone (our new platform host) a smooth one! The website comes with many updates, as well as a much better Mobile platform. They have asked us to choose 7 pages for them to build but we have many more than just 7 pages – so we are getting creative. They also wanted 3 to 5 images for the rotating homepage banner that best represents SICBA. We have chosen them for Events, Foundation Sponsors, Benefits of Becoming a Member, Find A Pro with a call to action, and Quarterly Members. We hope the changes benefit our members and we will have more updates by next meeting. In 2019, our social media campaign will be focused on Storybrand techniques. Storybrand follows three basic ideas, 1. Identify a problem, 2. Explain your plan to help, and 3. Successfully solve the problem/happy ending. An example would be: "Many people want to build their dream home, but they don’t know where to start. We provide an easy way to find a registered & insured professional, so they can get their project taken care of quickly and legally." We plan to come up with more one-liners about SICBA and keeping each season unique. So look out for that early next year! We are still looking for a new chair to lead the Marketing team as Topher will be stepping down to pursue other projects. So if you are interested in becoming a chair with a creative mind and fun group of people, feel free to inquire about it. Give Lianna a call at (360) 488-4079

Our next meeting is December 5th at 12:00PM at the SICBA Office. Please feel free to join us!

SPONSORSHIPS ARE NOW AVAILABLE FOR THE 2019 PEER TO PIER CRUISE!!

If you didn’t qualify or just didn’t get to go on the cruise this year, we are putting plans together for our cruise next year. If you would like a captive audience for about 3 hours for them to see your wares and hear your name as a sponsor, now is your chance to jump in and sponsor for next year’s event. It is always a lot of fun!!! In order for members to get to go on the cruise, they have to be a new member that joined the association after the 2018 cruise or they have to recruit a new member company to be eligible for a ticket. This is all done through sponsorships and through the SICBA Membership Committee. If you are interested, give Jonathan a call at (360) 757-6916 or email him at [email protected].

ABOUT BIAW’S CERTIFIED BUILDER DESIGNATION: BIAW’s Certified Builder designation is a comprehensive accreditation program with standards that far exceed what Washington law mandates for registered contractors. BIAW will also launch a full-scale consumer marketing campaign to help position Certified Builders more highly in the marketplace, a first for any kind of program offered by BIAW. Use Clear Contracts. Certified Builders must use contracts that clearly define the construction agreement between the homeowner and the builder.
