As we enter the second decade of the 21st
Century the need to maximize the effectiveness
and impact of the university experience has
never been greater. The productive utilization
of higher education resources demands that
all sectors of the university work together in
mutually beneficial partnerships working toward
the creation of high impact, engaged learning.
Secure, safe, efficient, effective bridges spanning
the often too unconnected domains of academic
and student affairs need to be constructed. This
workshop will create hands-on opportunities to
explore in depth the need for such partnerships
as well as provide guidance on how such
structures can be created and sustained.
At the end of this program, participants will be able to:
• Describe the past, present, and future need for student
and academic affairs partnerships
• Apply a multi-dimensional approach to student
engagement that integrates student and academic
affairs
• Identify and develop strategies to overcome barriers
to student and academic affairs partnerships
• Develop strategies to sustain student and academic
affairs innovative partnerships
• Utilize the model of High Impact Practices as a vehicle
in which student and academic affairs bridges can be
crossed
• Develop a plan for student and academic affairs staff
professional development to encourage and support
high impact, engaged learning

• The cultural context of higher education and its influence on the development of studentand academic affairs partnerships
• A multi-dimensional of student engagement that integrates student and academic affairs

DAY 2• The challenges of sustaining educational innovation
• Developing and supporting High Impact Practices that support student and academic affairspartnerships

PROGRAM FACILITATOR
James E. Groccia is Professor Emeritus of Higher Education at Auburn University in Alabama, USA. He is a former President of the Professional and Organizational Development (POD) Network in Higher Education, the world’s largest academic development professional organization. During his 40-year academic career, James has worked in Student Services as Director of Counseling, Orientation and Student Development Services and in Academic Affairs as an Assistant Dean of Graduate Studies, Director of Teaching and Learning, and as a full-Professor and doctoral student advisor. James is the author/co-author/co-editor of numerous book chapters and journal articles, as well as three special topic journals and nine books on the topics of educational productivity and quality, evidence-based teaching, student engagement, cross-cultural perspectives
on teaching and learning, student assisted teaching, student success, academic development, and instructor training and development. James was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Tartu (2011-12) and a Distinguished Visiting Professor at theAmerican University in Cairo in 2014. Dr. Groccia haspresented at conferences, consulted, and conductedworkshops throughout the U.S. as well as in Ecuador,Egypt, England, Estonia, Ghana, Hungary, Ireland,Germany, Scotland, Lebanon, Lithuania, Siberia/Russia, and Saudi Arabia. In 2011, as a result of hisworkshops throughout Estonia, he was recognizedas the Best Instructor of Lecturers by the ArchimedesFoundation of the European Union Social Fund. He is a current member of Phi Beta Delta, the Honor Societyfor International Scholars and is an InternationalAssociate in the Center for Learning Innovations &Customized Knowledge Solutions (CLICKS).

PROGRAM DURATIONThis 2-days program is organized from 9:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m. with one hour dedicated
for lunch break and 2 coffee breaks of 20 min each. Kindly be informed that registration
will take place on the first day of the program from 8:30 to 9:00.

PROGRAM DELIVERY STRATEGYThe program will be delivered through a combination of mini-lectures, presentations,
hands-on activities, exercises, discussion, and the integration of technology teaching
applications.

PROGRAM FEES, REGISTRATION AND DISCOUNTS
• All CLICKS programs take place in 4 or 5 star hotels and are inclusive of lunch and
two coffee breaks for each day of the program
• The program fee for the 2-day program is 2,500 AED. The Program fee is exclusive
of the 5% VAT which is to be added
• A 15% for individual registration and 20% for group registration early bird is available and ends on 1st of March, 2020
• Group discounts varying between 15-25% are available for groups of 3 and above
depending on the date by which the group registered
• Registration to any public program shall be done online through CLICKS website at

• Registration is confirmed only upon receiving the full payment of the program fee.
No on-site payment is accepted
• A Certificate of Attendance will be issued to participants attending the entirety of
the Program
