1 Budget Conquest Star Wars Expansion Budget Conquest is a board game that focuses on two or players competing against one and other for dominance over a space region. This region is composed of many types of planets that produce resources to be used to increase a player’s fleet size and the ability to research new technology keeping them ahead of other players. The first player to achieve one of five different victory conditions is the winner. In order to play the game you will need to print off the core rules part 1 and this expansion book with the rules on paper, and counters on card. Follow the instructions from Core Rules 1 on setting up a game and playing one. This expansion, however, changes a few rules and adds a few new optional ones if you are planning on playing using both the Star Trek set from Core Rules 2 and this one. First off let’s start with the 2 new factions that this expan- sion brings you. NEW CONTENT – Factions: The Rebel Alliance This faction plays like a normal Star Trek faction except there is more of a focus on the Carrier warfare part of the game that would give any good Hydran player a run for their money! While their attacking ships are fewer and weaker than that of the Galactic Empire (see below) they more than make up for in sheer amount of fighter support. Potentially the Rebels have the ability to outmanoeuvre any unsuspecting foe when they reach A-Wings and B-Wings on the Special Technology ladder. NEW CONTENT – Factions: The Galactic Empire This faction is a force to be reckoned with as their ships sport massive amounts of Attacking power if the economy is good enough to support greater sizes of fleet. The ominous and truly iconic Star Destroyer makes the appearance as a Large Counter with a devastating Attack 15 Defence 15 profile and having a weight of 2! If you think this is bad then it gets a hell of a lot worse with the addition of their Dreadnought; The Super Star Destroyer. The Super Star Destroyer is double the attack and defence of a normal Star Destroyer from the beginning but can be increased in both later on. In fact the whole Special Technology research ladder revolves around getting enough items so you can build one of these monsters! Given that you are spending vast amounts of resources to this project you may fall behind giving the Empire a major flaw but also a major strength. NEW CONTENT – Freeform Technology There are two brand new technology ladders in this expansion that will bolster the current 3 for the Star Trek faction and add a whole new layer of playing the game. Due to the exceed- ingly high attributes of the ships in this expansion there had to be someway of limiting early game rushes with such leviathans; this brings us to the Unit Technology ladder that allows players to literally select what types of ships they wish to . Also the Home World card can be fully upgraded in multiple ways through the use of the Home World Technology ladder. Both of these ladders are compatible with the Core Rule factions.

    Budget Conquest Star Wars Expansion

Budget Conquest is a board game that focuses on two or players competing against one and

other for dominance over a space region. This region is composed of many types of planets

that produce resources to be used to increase a players fleet size and the ability to research

new technology keeping them ahead of other players. The first player to achieve one of five

different victory conditions is the winner.

In order to play the game you will need to print off the core rules part 1 and this expansion

book with the rules on paper, and counters on card. Follow the instructions from Core Rules

1 on setting up a game and playing one. This expansion, however, changes a few rules and

adds a few new optional ones if you are planning on playing using both the Star Trek set

from Core Rules 2 and this one. First off lets start with the 2 new factions that this expan-

    sion brings you.

NEW CONTENT Factions: The Rebel Alliance This faction plays like a normal Star Trek faction except there is more of a focus on the

Carrier warfare part of the game that would give any good Hydran player a run for their

money! While their attacking ships are fewer and weaker than that of the Galactic Empire

(see below) they more than make up for in sheer amount of fighter support. Potentially the

Rebels have the ability to outmanoeuvre any unsuspecting foe when they reach A-Wings

and B-Wings on the Special Technology ladder.

NEW CONTENT Factions: The Galactic Empire This faction is a force to be reckoned with as their ships sport massive amounts of Attacking

power if the economy is good enough to support greater sizes of fleet. The ominous and

truly iconic Star Destroyer makes the appearance as a Large Counter with a devastating

Attack 15 Defence 15 profile and having a weight of 2! If you think this is bad then it gets a

hell of a lot worse with the addition of their Dreadnought; The Super Star Destroyer.

The Super Star Destroyer is double the attack and defence of a normal Star Destroyer from

the beginning but can be increased in both later on. In fact the whole Special Technology

research ladder revolves around getting enough items so you can build one of these

monsters! Given that you are spending vast amounts of resources to this project you may

fall behind giving the Empire a major flaw but also a major strength.

NEW CONTENT Freeform Technology There are two brand new technology ladders in this expansion that will bolster the current 3

for the Star Trek faction and add a whole new layer of playing the game. Due to the exceed-

ingly high attributes of the ships in this expansion there had to be someway of limiting early

game rushes with such leviathans; this brings us to the Unit Technology ladder that allows

players to literally select what types of ships they wish to . Also the Home World card can

be fully upgraded in multiple ways through the use of the Home World Technology ladder.

Both of these ladders are compatible with the Core Rule factions.

NEW CONTENT Strategic Territory These are essentially game breakers or game makers as they are key locations from the mul-

tiple Stargate series that can be fought over and that also adds a SIXTH victory condition to

the already tough or long running ones. Holding all of the Strategic Territory by the end of

the turn will automatically win you the game but they are not so easily taken.

In this expansion sees 9 Star Wars planets from the Movies, Games, and Comics, added to

this expansion. You can, if you wish, add these to the Stargate ones to add more types of

planet though it may be confusing in the long run.

Star Wars versus Star Trek There is without doubt that Star Trek is superseded by Star Wars ships in this expansion in

both Attack, Defence, and Fleet Capacity. However the following rules have to be applied

for both sides to make it equal:

    1. All Factions have access to all 6 types of Technology Ladders and are classed as

FREEFORM. Freeform Technology Ladders are explained more on the next page.

    2. There must be, at all times, 7 Strategic territory cards (from any/all expansions) in the

board so there is a clear winner.

    3. From the Optional rules (page 14&16) Weight and Stack of 10 from Core Rules 1 book

are always in effect. Super Star Destroyers are classed as having a Weight of 6 and are

always classed as 10 units instead of 1. See next page for clarifications on the Empire.

Also the Rebels Carrier is classed as having a Weight of 3 instead of 2.

    4. No faction from either faction set can go for the Economic Super Power or Superior &

    Advanced Victory Conditions.

Star Wars versus Stargate Stargate factions have better odds than Star Trek ones do competing against Star Wars fac-

tions in the long haul. The Wraith would stand up to the fight, as would the Goauld in

early-mid term games. The Tauri would struggle early on but with the Star Trek technology

behind them it should make it equal footing.

    1. All Factions have access to all 6 types of Technology Ladders except the Tauri doesnt

need to research unit technology as its own Special Technology covers that area.

    2. There must be, at all times, 5 Strategic territory cards (from any/all expansions) in the

board so there is a clear winner and no faction from either faction set can go for the

Economic Super Power or Superior & Advanced Victory Conditions.

    3. Both Expansion follow their normal faction rules from then on.

NEW RULES The Rebel Alliance 1. X-Wings and Y-Wings (though fitted with Hyper Drives in the movies) can only be

moved by Carriers. This is to stop early game rushes into enemy territory or spending

worthless amounts of resources on foolhardy attacks.

    2. A-Wings and B-Wings move like Frigates to represent the advancement of technology

as the Galactic Civil War moved on. Class the plus sign (+) as modifier as they can be

attached to Fighter Capacity ships and give that ship this attack/defence bonus. If there

are left in a fleet of their own then ignore the plus sign.

    3. The Rebels Carrier is classed as having a Weight of 3 instead of 2. During normal

games against other Rebel or Empire players the Weight rule from Page 14 of the Core

Rules is no longer optional and is now standard.

NEW RULES The Galactic Empire 1. The Weight rule from Page 14 of the Core Rules is no longer optional and is now stan-

dard and as such; Super Star Destroyers are classed as having a Weight of 6 and are

always classed as 10 units instead of 1.

    2. The Special Technology ladder must be researched in order to build a Super Star De-

stroyer though it is not essential to winning the game it can be a massive help or Home

World defender. To get normal Star Destroyers; Battleship Unit Technology must be

researched from the Unit Technology ladder first.

    3. The Space Dock can build the Super Star Destroyer despite it being classed as ten units

instead of 1. However if the Super Star Destroyer is destroyed then it can not be

    replaced!

NEW RULES Freeform Technology Ladders Freeform Ladders arent technically ladders as you can choose which tech item you want

and pick that instead of having to go through a whole chain of them. In this expansion you

are given two new types of tech ladders in this format; Unit and Home World. The Unit

technology is extending the game slightly but also restricting early game rushes for those

who dont have all powerful ships. Players choose what unit type they think they will spend

all their resources on and go for that one. Soon I will be rereleasing faction fleets so that

there are vast amounts more of each unit type to reflect this new ladder.

Home World technology is there so that players can literally have the same types of unit in

play (usually Heavy Cruisers and Frigates) but their Home World will be distinctly different

depending on the types of game they are playing. These tech items do exactly what the title

suggests and there is no greater feeling that a fully upgraded Home World can win you the

game in the long run even after loosing countless of planets to the enemy in mid-long

    games.

This freeform technology comes at a cost as Technology prices have increased slightly; this

also includes added Star Trek technology also. These are included in this expansion giving

your faction a totally unique feeling toward them every game.

FINAL NOTES There isnt much left to say about this expansion that hasnt been already covered in the pre-

vious sections. This expansion is pretty straight forward if you had a few games of the Core

Game with the Star Trek fleet sets. However just to remind you that the larger ships in this

expansion are far more powerful than those in the Star Trek fleets, even the mighty Gorn

Dreadnought will find it difficult to go toe-to-toe with a Star Destroyer without proper

upgrade research first, hell even a Wraith Hive Ship may find it difficult!
