  • What is a BTEC?

    • BTEC Nationals provide specialist, work-related learning across a range of sectors. Delivering the knowledge, skills and understanding students need to prepare for their chosen career, BTEC Nationals offer progression to higher or further education or into employment.

  • BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Business (Single Business)

    • Equivalent to one full A 'Level

    • 4 units studied over 2 years, 2 in year 12 and 2 in year 13

    • Unit 2 Developing a Marketing Campaign

    • Unit 3 Personal and Business Finance

    • Unit 8 Recruitment and Selection

  • Assessment Methodology• BTEC is 58% external assessment and 42% internal assessment

    • External Assessment

    • Unit 2 Developing a Marketing Campaign

    • A task set and marked by Pearson and completed under supervised conditions.

    • Learners will be provided with a case study two weeks before a supervised assessment period in order to carry out research.

    • The supervised assessment period is a maximum of three hours and can be arranged over a number of sessions in a period timetabled by Pearson.

    • Written submission

    • 70 marks

    • Unit 3 Personal and Business Finance

    • Written examination set by Pearson

    • 2 hours

    • 100 marks

  • Internally Assessed Units 1 & 8

    • This work must be submitted to deadline• If work is submitted to deadline you will have ONE

    • Apple started as a small business, it is now a multinational successful business. How did this happen?

    • In your table groups/pairs discuss the things that you think Apple did to grow the business so successfully

    • Record your answers on the flipchart/A3 paper and be ready to feedback

  • ChallengeLook at your flip chart/A3 paper and identify which of the strategies Apple

    has used from below to ensure success. Prepare some examples. Be ready to feedback!

    • How can each stakeholder influence the company and to what extent can they influence the business – explain your answers

    • This research can be difficult but reading and selecting relevant data will help develop required skills for A 'Level studies
