Vettes on the Avenue
October 21st was a beautiful, sunny day when we headed to Melbourne for Vettes on the
Avenue. The rain came at awards time about 2:30 PM. Twelve Stuart members were among the
175 others who showed their cars. One of our newest members, Ron Berg, showcased his
beautiful NCRS Top Flight (Bloomington Gold) fuel-injected Crown Sapphire 1959 convertible.
He was awarded a Top 25 award at the end of the day. Congratulations Ron!
In my opinion, Ron's 59 deserved the 'Best of Show' award! The missed award was another
victim of participant voting. Check out his car at your first opportunity!
Lunch is always special during the show at Meg O'Malloys. Seventeen of us filled one corner
of the restaurant and devoured everything on the menu from BLTs to corned beef to Shepherd's
Pie! The ladies seemed to enjoy a day of shopping in historic downtown Melbourne.
One casualty of the day was the DJ's PA system which didn't take to the downpour. We also
missed Chris and Jan Wright who were not able to complete the run to the show. The Cape
Kennedy Corvette Club, as usual, won the 'Participants Award' of $100.00 with 22 Corvettes.
Plan to join us next year for the nice ride to this fun show!

Cheese Cake Factory
"On Sunday October 15th, 37 people attended the cruise to the Cheesecake Factory
in Palm Beach Gardens for lunch. We drove the scenic route down Jupiter Island.
The weather was mostly good, just a few sprinkles on the way. We ate on the patio
with a beautiful view of the lake and a pleasant breeze."
Thanks,
Gail Herr
SCC Attends 9th
Annual Palm City Fall Fest
Lots of SCC members were in attendance at the 9th Annual Fall Fest held at Citrus Grove
Community Park in Palm City on Saturday October 28th.
Eight members – Stan Reed, Tom Wood, Dan Kikkert, Rich Gilbert, Larry Ruehman, Bob
Ludlum, Dick Fisher and John Hosler cruised over to the show after having coffee and
goodies at Panera’s. Not cruising over but attending the show were Lucy & Dick Kesler as
well as Pat and Nancy Leone with their ’66 coupe and even Jim Ferrare who brought his
McLaren. Also Peter Victoria had a tent as he was promoting his company, ZEN Auto
Concepts and for those of us who have been around long enough Kathy & Joe Borg were
there again with their beautiful Tuxedo Black 1961 Corvette.
It was a great day but weepy with several showers and overcast all day with over 80 cars in
the show with everything from a 1926 Ford pickup through antiques through modern cars
including a beautiful several gorgeous Tri- Five Chevys, the most beautiful 1940 Packard
this old guy has ever seen and several early 50s pick ‘em trucks.
SCC members who trophied were Dan Kikkert, Dick Kesler, Peter Victoria and Bob
Ludlum. Three other SCC members - Tom Wood, Stan Reed and Pat Leone also trophied
but were not there when awards were presented (first shower did them in) and the trophies
were given to others.
In addition to the car show there were over 100 vendors plus all kinds of kids singing and
dancing acts on the stage as well as food all over. A wonderful day with fun things to do for
all, young and old!

Brunch with Barry Hi Everyone,
Most members who joined me for this month's Brunch with Barry never heard of the little gem that I found for them. It was the Tiki Hut located in the Saint Lucie County Airport,( it is now called the Treasure Coast International Airport). The weather was a little cloudy with periods of short rains but it didn't make 21 of my friends want to stay home. The food was delicious and the view from our tables was very special. There were three nice jets sitting outside of our window. It was fun watching them start up and move onto the runway and take off. Although two of them were empty when they left, one had a family which looked like they were off to the Bahamas. So, if you are in the mood for a nice breakfast or lunch, I would recommend you take a few minutes and visit the Tiki Hut
So until next time Great Friends, Great Cars, Life is Good. Barry
