User-Friendly Equipment
Remote monitioring & conguration
The BRS provides a Probus Interface which allows the system to be remotely
monitored and congured. The advanced visualisation software provides all
information in a user friendly graphical environment.
+ Information
Self Learning
It is simple to program the Control Unit STG-300-0230.
Just set the necessary parameters and start the learn cycle. Programming
does not require any considerable skills or knowledge outside of basic
training.
+ Intelligent
Robust
All parts of the system are made to perform in harsh mining environments.
The housing of the revolution sensor for example is made out of a block of
stainless steel.
+ Reliability
Congurable
Depending on the needs, one control unit can handle up to three sensor-units
(sender plus receiver). If the situation changes, it is just a simple change of a
parameter. For example, from 3 to 1 sensor-unit.
+ Flexibility
Installation
BRS is easily installed. The sender and receiver can easily be mounted
beneath the conveyor without difculties. Alignment is a simple task.
Adjusting the receiver is simply done by setting the parameters via the
programming unit PRG-300.

Belt-Rip Detection System (BRS)
System Operation
The Belt-Rip Detection System (BRS) was developed to increase the
productivity of conveyor belts by detecting belt-rips as soon and reliable as
possible.
Detecting a belt-rip in an early state increases the availability of conveyor
belts signicantly.
As there is no chance to fully avoid belt-rips, the BRS is the solution for
saving money in case of a belt-rip by keeping the costs for new belts and
production downtimes low.
As an additional feature the system makes belt-revisions much easier and
faster which assists in the reduction of maintenance costs.
Belt-Rip Detection Principle
Metal coils are integrated in the conveyor-belt.
When a coil passes the sender and receiver it transmits the signal from
the sender to the receiver of the BRS.
In case of a belt-rip the present coil will be damaged, so the transmission
line is interrupted and the receiver will not receive the expected signal.
The control unit (STG-300-0230) analyses the sequence of the passing
coils and detects if an expected signal is missed. In such a case the con-
trol unit switches the internal relay to shut down the conveyor and sends
out an alarm via the Probus.
As the control unit accumulates data, the control unit features a
revision mode to reduce the maintenance time for belt-revisions. The
system knows the relative position of the belt to the conveyor construction
and uses this information to allow the user to set virtual marks on the belt
for revision purposes.
