    BRP Recalls Snowmobiles Due to Explosion Hazard

    The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC.

    Consumers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt

    to resell a recalled consumer product.

    Products: Ski-Doo Snowmobiles

    Units: About 1,000

    Importer: BRP US Inc., of Sturtevant, Wisconsin

    Hazard: Electrostatic changes can accumulate and spark in the fuel tank when the engine is left idling, posing an

    explosion hazard that could result in serious injuries or death.

    Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received three reports of explosions, one involving minor burns to face and

    hands.

    Description: This recall involves Ski-Doo model names listed below. Model names are located on the side

    panel.

    Remedy: Consumers should stop using these vehicles immediately and contact any Ski-Doo dealer to schedule

    an appointment for a free repair. Registered owners have been directly notified about this recall by mail. All

    models already repaired under previous recalls due to laceration hazard from projectiles, fire hazard, orexplosion

    must be repaired again.
