What is a Specialist?

Answer:There are many definitions

Is a registered Nurse who has acquired the expert knowledge base, complex decision making skills and clinical competencies for expanded practice.

International Council of Nurses 2002

A CNS is a registered Nurse who has acquired additional specialist knowledge and experience.Having completed or demonstrated the ability to complete a degree, they will have the skills and competencies required to manage a clinical caseload within agreed boundaries and protocols in-line with clinical governance.
