BNP Paribas Personal Investors

Editorial Olivier Le Grand

Investors want liquid, high-performance and transparent investments. This is all the more true in

the current economic crisis: the impossibility for Western nations to maintain their standard of

living without going into debt has made savings channels much longer and more complex. It’s our

responsibility to ensure the quality and traceability of the investments our clients make.

As experts in our fi eld, we want to listen to what they say on the telephone or in face-to-face dialogue;

we want to offer them helpful and meaningful services over the Internet or via their mobile phones.

It takes a great deal of money to fi nance the research and infrastructure needed to meet today’s

challenges. India, China and Brazil are clear proof of that: raising the level of savings, particularly

domestic savings invested in stocks, is one part of the solution. Consumption is not an end in itself;

we need to invest today to fi nance the growth of tomorrow. Growth that will be more equitably

distributed and more environmentally sustainable.

BNP Paribas Personal Investors provides fi nancial investment advice and brokerage services to affl uent clients in Europe and Asia.

www.investir-utile.frPersonal Investors launched www.investir-utile.fr, a website featuring initiatives undertaken by its entities. This not-for-profit website shows simply and clearly the relationship between a financial investment and its social utility. A “Green Rating” of 330 funds invested in European stocks gives investors a further selection criterion in addition to standard information on performance. The French “Ethical Label” ranks 13 socially responsible companies in each sector on the basis of three criteria (human resources, environment and corporate governance), and waives custody fees on these equities.

For the last ten years, BNP Paribas Personal Investors has remained committed to socially and environmentally responsible action. It was the 1st financial institution to launch a “sustainable development subfund” in France. Prime examples of the ongoing environmental initiatives undertaken by Personal Investors include carbon assessments, “green” rating and “useful investment” operations and a dedicated CSR website.

In France“Useful Investing” continues…Cortal Consors France and B*capital launched their 5th Useful Investment scheme. The aim was to encourage private clients to invest in funds and stocks with environmental and sustainable development benefi ts. Clients could invest online in a selection of stocks via B*capital or in funds with reduced entry fees via Cortal Consors. 100% of stock brokerage fees and 2% of the total amount collected have been respectively donated to the non-profi t organization GoodPlanet to fund environmental projects in India. Since 2006, “Useful Investment” operations have helped to fund projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Chile, Cambodia and India in collaboration with GoodPlanet.

Good Planet FoundationThe GoodPlanet Foundation, chaired by Yann Arthus Bertrand, aims to educate and create environmental awareness. Cortal Consors is one of the 4 founding members.

In GermanyHumanitarian relief The "Hilfstruck" (meaning "relief-truck") campaign was carried out by "Börsianer Handeln", a non-profi t organization co-founded by Cortal Consors Germany. A truck carrying donations and care packages was sent to daycare centres in Petrilla, Romania. "Börsianer Handeln" also contributes to a school project in Bolivia offering educational support, kindergartens and medical centres to more than 800 students. Work has begun to expand the school so as to accommodate more students.

“DelphinLagune” Cortal Consors has continuously supported “Delphin Lagune”, Europe’s 1st dolphin therapy centre for autistic children. “DelphinLagune” at Nuremberg Zoo is in the advanced stages of construction and will be inaugurated in 2011.
