Message from our Centre Manager

Every year I see an ever increasing variety of groups offering theirevents at the Centre. It’s lovely to welcome new guests as well as themany who return year after year.

Those who do return will notice we seldom stand still. We arecontinually looking to improve what we offer. This, in terms ofaccommodation and catering is much closer to a hotel rather than theusual hostel experience. At the same time we believe that our prices arevery competitive, like for like. As we have a wide range of accommodationoptions, we haven’t quoted prices in the brochure but details are just a phonecall away.

We are also aiming bit by bit to reduce our environmental impact. Wehave installed sun-tubes, use grey water flushing and timed lighting andhave reduced our use of non-recyclable plastic. We even grow some ofown food. Our website provides further details of initiatives to date andour aims for the future.

I hope you will find something to interest you within our brochure. We haveincluded contacts who can provide you with further information. If you needto know more about the accommodation and catering we can offer - and therelevant prices - please do not hesitate to contact the Centre team.

I hope to welcome you to The Nightingale Centre soon!

Rest, meditate a bit, feelinto whatever it is that you need to restore and recharge the winter months.

The gentle art of Compassion Fri 3rd to Sun 5th April“Compassion for others is easy, because it’s not ourselves” - Dalai Lama. Join us inlearning how to become our own best friend. Realise that it’s really OK not to be OK.Understand how to change patterns that no longer serve us. Find that font of kindnessfor ourselves that’s so easily accessed for others. This could really change your life!

The Nightingale Centre is booked by a very wide range of organisations. But we may have some weeks, weekends or mid-weeks free, especially, but not only, in winter months (when there is a discount!). And at all times of the year we sometimes have space alongside other groups using the centre.

Perhaps you need a school field trip venue, a venue for a family occasion to cele brate, or your congregation or district wants to book a holiday. Or your organisation needs to undertake a review, provide training or hold an AGM or conference away from base. Or you want to organise a retreat, away from it all.

All good reasons togive Stella a ring (or email) and ask about availability!

The Foy Society is a fellowship of women and men who, in a spirit of free inquiry, seek to understand the nature of present issues and problems - political, social and religious. It was founded in 1924 as The Fellowship of Youth. In 1957 it became known as the Foy Society as it had gradually taken on the role of an inter-generational group.
