The Williams School works with each child to build and enduring

foundation for academic, moral and social success. A Williams School

student embodies integrity, confidence and a love of learning.

    Dear Williams School Families,

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! Oi Oi Oi! was the chant of the week here at The Williams School. We hosted a group ofAustralian High School Bagpipers who were in town for the Tattoo. Karen Jacksons husband does an amazing job ofputting the Tattoo together every year. Sometimes, our connection to the Jackson family affords us the opportunity toinvite guests from around the world to Williams. This years Australian troop performed for us flawlessly and, by my

understanding, the Australians turned into minor celebrities by the end of the day and were greeted at the Tattooyesterday with screams of glee a la Justin Bieberfrom many of our fourth through eighth grade girlshmmm.

As great as that performance might have been, last weekend we had many more incredible performances by our ForensicsTeam at two different tournaments. The fourth, fifth, and sixth graders went to The Friends School to compete on Sundayand the seventh and eighth graders competed at our school last Saturday. Our students did exceptionally well in both

events. Sue Schneider, our fifth and sixth grade teacher was in charge of making sure everyone had a piece to do, thateach child had a coach, and that everyone was ready to compete. Parents and teacher volunteers all assisted with thecoaching of our team members. Sue did a wonderful job in her first year as head coach and looks forward to making iteven better next year. Because we hosted the seventh and eighth grade tournament, we needed someone who would beable to organize, plan and execute a seamless all-day tournament. We fortunately have that person in our middle schoolEnglish and math teacher, Emily Justesen. She did an incredible job of organizing the event here and we are still gettingmessages of accolades for her work with regard to how well it was run. The blessing of great faculty!

As you recall, our auctions initial call forbidding helped to supplement and offsetsome of the cost of a new bus for ourschool! And now I can finally announce

that we have ordered a new bus for ourschool. It will be delivered in mid-August.With our students safety in mind at thefore, we ordered special seating for fortyeight people (thats two full classes with their

teachers!) with three point buckling system forevery passengerall adjustable for even our smallest passengers! Hereis a picture of the vehicle and the type of seating it will have (note that

the handicap access door on the back will notbe there.) We will have The Williams SchoolHonor Before Honors on thesides of the bus and possibly have our motto and our window as a big decal on the back of the bus. A special thank yougoes out to the Ad Hoc Bus Committee who spent quite a bit of time exchanging views and expertise mostly over emailcommunication in the months leading up to this purchase. Robert will have to give this bus its name and hopefully a

future Head of School will write lovingly about its twenty five year service when we go and replace this bus in 2036!

    Have a wonderful weekend.

    Best,

    Jay
