BIM Projects lack direct real-time access to manufacturer building products.

Likewise, manufacturers have poor to zero visibility into BIM Projects.

Manufacturers and specifiers lack real-time feedback about products and product quantities inside BIM Projects.

Traditional specifying is tedious. On a large project - it can take two weeks and more to create an Ironmongery Schedule.

Major project revisions frequently require restart.

As a result, BIM Projects and product specifications are seldom in sync.

Buildings consume thousands of products, many of which are never modelled in BIM Projects…

Imagine if BIM Projects could specify, cost and procure themselves automatically….

What if real-world building products could be intelligently linked to BIM Projects?

Products connect BIM to the Real World

Products provide key to unlock allProducts are BIM’s missing link. The integration of real-world products with BIM benefits all stages of the building lifecycle - including product selection, procurement planning, construction scheduling, material tracking, installation status, planned versus actual reporting, warranties & asset management.

Virtual Real

Dimensions

Products take BIM to the next level. By intelligently linking real-world products to BIM Objects,BIMSpecify is able to automatically generate “5D“ cost reports such as Elemental Estimates and Bills ofQuantities. The integration of real-world products with BIM is the key to unlocking 4D (time), 5D (cost),6D (green) and 7D (asset /facilities management).

“BIM Objects are placeholders that consume real-world products”

BIM Objects consume multiple real-world building products, including products that will never bemodelled. In the example below, the BIM Basin named “Freddy” consumes 1.70m of Silicone Sealant.

The Law of Product Consumption can be summarised as “A consumes B” where A is a BIM Object and B is the real-world product consumed by A

BIMSpecify dynamically links Objects in BIM Projects to Recipes of building products

BIMSpecify automatically creates Bills of Quantities directly from BIM ProjectsTo automate Bill of Quantities, BIMSpecify scans the entire BIM model, applies each Product Recipe, compiles aggregated list of products (bill items) with quantities, and then lastly - applies costs.

BIMSpecify allows users to attach real-world building products directly to BIM objects. Products can be assigned to BIM objects at both Type and Instance level.

are prespecified and precosted

In BIMSpecify, BIM Objects only need to specified once. Once specified, BIM Objects function as “Universal Masters” that teach “future generations” how to specify and cost themselves automatically .

Universal Master ProjectsBIMSpecify helps accelerate the rollout of franchise-type building projects. BIM Projects that have been specified automatically become “Universal Master Projects" that intelligently teach new projects to specify and cost themselves – including full automation of Bills of Quantities.

Easy publishing of manufacturer product catalogs using Excel templates - including product images. Manufacturers can publish multiple product catalogs representing different countries. Large industry databases such as Craftsman National Construction costbooks can also be published. Real-world products are dynamically associated to BIM Objects.

Architect shares BIM Project with Manufacturer

Inside the Revit project, Architect specifies building products directly onto Revit BIM Objects, by simply choosing products from Manufacturer Product Catalogs. Products can be added to Revit BIM Objects at both Type (global) and Instance (single) levels. BIMSpecify automatically saves each unique product collection as a Recipe for convenient recall from a Recipe Library.

Architect specifies products directly inside Revit

Willem shares the BIM project with [email protected] by adding him as a user. Willem exports 2D and 3D DWF sheets of the Revit project and uploads them. Hannes downloads the DWF files and opens a floor plan to start specifying products collaboratively.

BIMSpecify (Revit Version) BIMSpecify (Standalone Version)

A key advantage of DWF is that elements maintain their BIM intelligence and can be selected in both2D and 3D. For example, if Hannes selects a door in the 2D DWF to ask Willem a question, within Revit- BIMSpecify will navigate to the same door, so Willem can answer the question.

Quickly create preliminary product specifications simply by dragging building products or images from websites directly onto BIM Objects in Revit projects. Dragged building products can be associated to BIM objects at either Type or Instance level. BIMSpecify also stores the URL for each dragged product, allowing you to return to the product’s web page later to capture additional product related information.

directly to a specific door in Revit Project

BIMSpecify provides BIM Projects with a special “project-email address” to receive and store emailscontaining photographs, product information and other data. Mobile users working in the field simplysend standard email messages with photo attachments directly to specific objects, locations and roomswithin the BIM project. BIMSpecify processes the emails and intelligently links the received data to itsactual context inside the BIM project - thereby making photos and other field information immediatelyavailable to Revit users as well as users who access the project using DWF files.

Integrated real-time Collaboration and MessagingMultiple users can simultaneously collaborate on the same project from anywhere in the world. Addreal-time messages, scheduled reminders, snags, files, photos or specifications to any BIM element in aproject. Collaborate directly from inside Revit or remotely by using 2D or 3D DWF files. Work eitheronline and offline – BIMSpecify’s real-time collaboration engine keeps everybody in sync.

BIMSpecify can automatically generate bills of quantities for BIM projects as they are drawn, thereby providing enhanced cost certainty for owners and stakeholders. Below is a sample page from a real-time Bill of Quantities. BIMSpecify can also export Bill of Quantities in Excel for tendering purposes or for import to in-house procurement systems. .

Other applications can easily integrate with BIMSpecify. For example, applications that store Revit Element IDs can access the BIMSpecify real-word product recipe for that element.
