Also I want to thank Bill Sackett for coming forward once again to sit on the Board filling the position that opened up for a short term. Your views and opinions are always welcomed. I would like to thank Bill Waech and the Public Works Dept. for all their efforts this past winter keeping the roads plowed. I believe this Village is very lucky to have the quality of people, we have in all areas of the Vil- lage. We have very knowledgeable people in the Administrative areas which helps things run as smooth as they do. The people we have leading the various departments in the Village are a true asset to us. They do a won- derful job and most people don’t know who they are or what they do because they do it so well. As you have heard and maybe have read in the pa- per the Village is in talks with Washington County about taking over Highway MY from Highway Y to Highway M this is another process that may take any- where from 1 to 2 years to get done. Hopefully it will make the process of redoing Main Street easier in the future, and be an asset to the Village. With the warmer weather and the longer daylight hours REMEMBER that the children are outside playing and more people are out walking and en- joying the weather, so please drive safely and keep them safe. Remember there is a Village Ordinance about lawn mowing, etc. If you have any question check with the Village hall. I believe the fine is over $200.00. So let’s keep our Village looking nice all year long. Remember the Fire Department’s Picnic this June what a great way to kick off summer and support these great people. Have great summer and be safe, Mike Heili

A LETTER FROM THE VILLAGE PRESIDENT: Hello everyone,

Well Spring is in the air, the weather is warming up and we have an election. This election will have an impact on how the village Board will look moving forward.

There is 3 Trustee positions on the ballot and on-ly one person filed nomination papers. So I only hope and pray that it turns out good.

I want to thank Jeff Camlin for his time and all the efforts he has put towards helping the Board make wise sound choices to the issues while he served this community. Also I want to thank Bill Sackett for coming forward once again to sit on the Board filling the position that opened up for a short term. Your views and opinions are always welcomed.

I would like to thank Bill Waech and the Public Works Dept. for all their efforts this past winter keeping the roads plowed.

I believe this Village is very lucky to have the quality of people, we have in all areas of the Vil-lage. We have very knowledgeable people in the Administrative areas which helps things run as smooth as they do.

The people we have leading the various departments in the Village are a true asset to us. They do a won-derful job and most people don’t know who they are or what they do because they do it so well.

As you have heard and maybe have read in the pa-per the Village is in talks with Washington County about taking over Highway MY from Highway Y to Highway M this is another process that may take any-where from 1 to 2 years to get done.

Hopefully it will make the process of redoing Main Street easier in the future, and be an asset to the Village.

With the warmer weather and the longer daylight hours REMEMBER that the children are outside playing and more people are out walking and en-joying the weather, so please drive safely and keep them safe.

Have great summer and be safe,

Mike Heili

From the desk of the Administrator/Clerk:

Rick Goeckner

The Spring Election is set for April 3rd. On the ballot locally will be three open positions for Vil-lage of Newburg Trustee. Polls will be open from 7:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. The annual Fireman’s Picnic is scheduled for June 1, 2 and 3rd. You can check the Newburg Fire Departments website for further detail. Don’t forget their parade on Sunday, the best small town parade in Wisconsin! Please show your support of the Newburg Fire Department in their fundraising efforts by attending the picnic. We are always looking for new pictures of the village or village events to share on our website. If you have any you’d like display please email Chrissie at [email protected]. Request: please help us keep Newburg looking its best. If you see trash in the ditch line, espe-cially on windy trash collection days, lend us a helping hand and pick it up. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. With warmer weather approaching please be considerate of your neighbors with your burn piles. Local ordinance prohibits the burning of any garbage or trash within village limits. This past quarter the Village Board passed two ordinances. The first is in regards to parking re-strictions on various village streets. The second changes the fees for Operator Licenses. A com-plete copy of these ordinances is available at Vil-lage Hall. Also passed were several resolutions. These include declaring May 12th International Migrato-ry Bird Day as a part of the village’s Bird City designation; accepting a proposal for the vil-lage’s insurance coverages; awarding the audit services of the village’s financial records;

authorizing the funds to purchase a DPW dump/patrol truck; accepting an agreement for our lift station’s generator maintenance; approving an easement for a village entrance sign; establish-ing a pay grade for the newly created position of Law Enforcement Chaplain; authorizing the in-stallation of stop signs at Franklin and Congress; authorizing the funds to purchase a DPW tractor and approving the jurisdictional transfer of Coun-ty Trunk Highway “MY”. I want to welcome the village’s new Sanitary Su-perintendent Dean Groleau. Dean is a long time village resident and Waste Water Treatment Plant employee. Dean has extension work expe-rience in the field and always brings his big smile and great sense of humor to work. One last note, as to village property assess-ments, Open Book will be held at Village Hall on May 2nd from 3 to 5 P.M. Board of Review will follow on May 29th from 6 to 8 P.M.

Treasurer/Deputy Clerk Chrissie Brynwood

I hope everyone had a good holiday season.

Warning lights, contrary to popular belief, the red or red, white warning lights in a fire department member’s personal vehicle when activated, do make this an emergency vehicle as per the general vehicle provisions in chap-ter 346.06 of the Wisconsin state stat-ute. (I encourage you to look up this code) So please yield them the right away. We are trying to respond to the scene in an expedited manner, yet be-ing as safe as possible. And as always if you see one of our members driving in an unsafe manner please call me; my cell number is 262-388-1314 so we can discuss this matter. Stay safe.
