Internet Surfing

Internet Surfing as it is popularly known means to go from one page to another on the Internet, browsing for topics of interest.

With the Net, we can do many things, such as shopping for clothes, making friends, and getting information.

Common Terms Associated With the Internet

Home Page—The opening Web page on an Internet site. HyperText Markup Language (HTML)—The

programming language used to create Web pages.Hyperlink—A highlighted or underlined word or graphic

on a Web page that leads to another Web page.Internet Account—What allows the user to get online.

Typically includes a login, password, and email address.Internet Service Provider (ISP)—An organization that

provides access to the Internet. Some of the better-known ISPs include AOL, MSN, and Yahoo.

Common Terms Associated With the Internet

Modem—A device that connects the computer to the Internet via phone or cable lines.

Network—A group of connected computers in either a LAN, or Local Area Network, or a WAN, or Wide Area Network.

Search Engine—A Web site that searches the Internet for specific information. This would include engines like Yahoo, Google,MSN.

Server—A computer that stores information that can be accessed via the Internet.

Ctrl+Shift+N Opens a new window in incognito mode.
