    Assembling as a CitrusJuice Extractor

Lock the juicer rim into placePlace the ju icer r im onto the top of the pulpcontainers and secure i t by raising andcl icking the two safety locking arms on thesides of the juicer into ' lock' posit ion. If thesafety locking arms are not locked intoposition, a built- in safety device will preventthe Vegetable and Citrus Duo fromoperating.

    Operating the VegetableJuice Extractor

    Step 1. Wash your selected fruit andvegetables and cut to size inorder to f itthrough the feed chute before turning juiceron.Step 2. Ensure the Vegetable and CitrusDuo is correctly assembled (See page 5)and that the safety locking arms are lockedinto position.Ensure the juice Jug is placed underneaththe juice outlet.Step 3. Plug the power cor d into a230/24Dv power outlet and turn the poweron. Swi tch the 'On/Of f' switch on theVegetable and Citrus Duo to the ON posit ionto start juicer operating.Step 4. With the motor running, then placethe pre-cut food down the feed chute. Usingthe food pusher , gentl y guide the food downthe chute,

    CARE AND CLEANING

    Operating the CitrusJuice Extractor

    Step 1.Wash your selected f ru it and cut inhalf to f it over cone.Step 2. Ensure the Vegetable and CitrusDuo is correctly assembled (See page 6)and,that the safety locking arms are lockedinto position.Ensure the juice jug is placed underneaththe juice outlet.Step 3. Plug the power cord into a230/240v power out le t and turn the poweron. Switch the 'On/Of f' switch on theVegetable and Citrus Duo to the ON posit ionto start juicer operating.Step 4. With the motor running, p lace cutcitrus fruit onto the cone. Pressg.ently toextract juice from fruit.

    Step 5. Juice wil l fl ow into the juice jug andthe separated pulp wi ll accumulate in thepulp container.Step 6. When juicing is complete, turn the'ON/OFF' switch to the OFF posit ion, switchoff the power at the power outlet andremove the plug.ALWAYS turn the Vegetable and Citrus DuoOF F and remove tihe plug from the poweroutlet before unlocking and opening the unit.ALWAYS ensure that the motor has corneto a complete standstil l before unlatchingand li fti ng the lid to remove the pulpcontainer.

    For easy cleaning always rinse out andair dry all the removable parts of theVegetable and Citrus Duo after use. Ensure the Vegetable and Cit rus Duo hasbeen swi tched off at the power out let andthen unplug before cleaning.

    Unlock the safety lock ing arms andremove the food pusher and lid, or ci truscone and r im, f rom the assembled unit

    Careful ly remove the Stainless Steel Fil terBasket

    Remove the pulp conta iner and empty itscontents into a bin for use on the gardenas compost.

    Wash all removable par ts inhot, soapywater . I t i s recommended NOT to washany parts of the Vegetable and Cit rus Duoin the dishwasher as the harsh detergentsand high water temperature will discolourand distort the parts.

    Wipe the motor base with a damp cloth.Do not use abrasives, harsh cleaningsolutions or hard brushes for cleaning asthese may scratch and damage the unit .

    I f staining occurs from carrots or oranges,use a mixture of b icarbonate soda andwater to for rn a paste to help Clean theunit. Toothpaste can also assist withcleaning.ADO NOT IMM ERSE THEM .O T .OR BASE , . ..P.LUG ORCORD IN WATER OR ANY. - _. OTHER LIQUID.

    Using a nylon wasrsnqbrush ismosteffective when cleaning the filter basket.Using the brush, hold the fil ter basketunder running water and brush f rom theinside of the basket out (seef igure 3).

    AJwaystreat the fil ter basket with care as i tcan be easily damaged.

    Discolouration of the plastic may occurwith strongly coloured fruit and vegetables.To help prevent this, wash partsimmediately after use. Ifdiscol.ourationdoes occur , the plast ic par ts can besoaked in bleach and water. Use 20mlsbleach to 1 l itre of water , soak plasticpar ts for a maximum of 5 minutes, thenrinse thorouqhly.

    Do not soak the filter basket in purebleach.(. . . .NOTEI

    To assist with cleaning thefilter basket, soak it in hotsoapy water forapproximately 10minutes.If the pulp is left to dry onthe filter it may clog thef ine pores of the f il termesh, thereby lesseningthe effectiveness of thef il ter. The fi lter basket is notdishwasher safe.

    PUlp too wet and insufficient juice Try a slower juicing action. Remove mesh filterbasket and clean mesh wall wi th a fine brush in asolut ion of 70% water and 30% bleach. This w il lremove excess f ibre bui ld up ( from f ru it o rvegetables) which could be inhibit ing the juiceflow.

    Try slower juicing act ion by pushing the foodpusher down more slowly.

    Although the juice drinks contained in thisbooklet were developed with flavour, textureand aroma at the forefront, the healthbenefits certainly add to the pleasurabletaste experience.95% of the nu tr ient con ten t of f ru it andvegetables is found in the juice. Liquidsextracted from fresh fruits and vegetablesform an important part of a well-balancedhealthy diet.Fresh fruit and vegetable juices are an easy-to-make source of vitamins and minerals.Juices are rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream, therefore being the quickest way inwhich the body can digest nutrients.

    When you make your own juices, you havecomplete cont ro l over what you inc lude inthem ..You select the ingredients and decidei fyou need to use sugar , sal t or o therflavouring agents.Freshly extracted juices should be drunk justafter they have been made to avoid a loss ofvitamin content.

    PREPARATION OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES A small amount of l emon juice can beadded to apple juice for clearer juice.

    USING THE PULPRecipes fo r the use o f pulp have beeninc luded in th is book (see page 17) . Apartf rom these , some of the o ther uses of pulpare to bulk out r lssoles, thicken casserolesor soups or in the case o f f ru it , s implyp laced in a bowl topped with mer ingue andbaked for a simple desert.Quite apart f rom the consumption use, pulpis great used in the garden for compost.

    8 carrots2 s m all beetroots, trimmed'I, cup fresh mint leaves1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice1. Process carrots and beetroot wrth mintleaves through Vegetable and Citrus Duo,Stir in orange juice, Serve immediately.

    VEGETABLE AND BACON SOUPServes 43 teaspoons butter1 onion, finely chopped1 ham bone350g beetroot pulp, strained and juicereserved

    50g potato pulp, strained and juice reserved50g carrot pulp, strained and juice reserved100g tomato pulp, strained and juicereserved

    50g cabbage pulp, strained and juicereserved

    reserved juices and enough water to makeup 2litres4 bacon rashers, chopped

    1 tablespoon lemon juice'1 2 cup sour cream1, Mel t but ter ina large saucepan, cookonion over a medium heat for 2-3 minutesor until golden.

    2, Add ham bone to pan, st ir in beetrootpulp, potato pulp, carrot pulp, tomatopulp, cabbage pulp, reserved juices,water , bacon and lemon juice.

    3. Bring to the boil , reduce heat and s immerfor 30-40 minutes.

    4. Remove ham bone, discard bone, f inelychop meat and return to the pan. Servetopped with sour cream.

    MANGO, ROCKMELON AND ORANGEYOGHURT DRINKServes 41 mango, halved, peeled and seeded'/2 small rockmelon, peeled, seeded and cutinto two equal portions1 /2 cups freshly squeezed orange juice3 tablespoons natural yoghurt1. Process mango and rockmelon throughVegetable and Citrus Duo.

    2. Pour into large bowl and whisk inorangejuice and yoghurt. Serve immediately.

    CARROT CAKE1% cups plain flour2 teaspoons baking powder'J, teaspoon nutmeg'/2 teaspoon cinnamon'/2 teaspoon cardamon'/2 cup peanuts, chopped'/2 cup sultanas'12cup brown sugar, firmly packed1'12cup carrot pulp'/2 cup oil2 eggs, l ightly beaten,/, sour cream1. Grease and l ine a 25cm x 15cm I loafpan.Sif t fl our and baking powder into a largemixing bowl, add nutmeg, cinnamon,cardamon, peanuts, sultanas, brownsugar and carrot pulp, sti r to combine.

    2. Add eggs, oi l and sour cream. Beat withelectric mixer, using medium speed untilall ingredients are well blended.3. Bake at 180C for 1 hour or until cake iscooked when tested with a skewer,

    4. Remove from oven, stand incake pan for5 minutes before inver ting out onto a wi recake rack.
