In 2008 AFL established its own Integrity Unit

• A first for Australian professional sports

• Responsible for addressing: Match-fixing, anti-doping, salary cap, draft, personal conduct, illicit drug policy

• Team currently consists of:

• Manager

• investigator

• analyst

• sports physician

• administrative support

• panel investigators

We have developed an effective intelligence and investigative

capability within the sport

• Case management and intelligence database allows us to securely store and analyse information

• We have information sharing agreements with ASADA and bookmakers

• We register all athlete support personnel in addition to athletes

Australian Crime Commission is the national body that combats organised crime• ACC provides centralised intelligence,

investigative and criminal database services to law enforcement and government agencies

• The ACC can draw on special coercive powers

• New legislation permits ACC to share information with private sector bodies in appropriate circumstances (including AFL)
