FROM THE WORLDSPAN PLATFORM (HOW I SEE IT) What are branded fares or fare families: It is the way that an airline groups together a range of books codes with the same benefits, in such a way that a travel agent can determine which fares have benefits and which ones don’t, just by referring to a matrix. For example, what is the lowest fare with baggage included? Not all airlines are using this product but the way to identify them follows. Below the airline code you will see a letter like this <<B>>. Display availability with the entry A23BUEBOG-AR, or the entry $P23SEPBUEBOG/R30SEP.

When you click on <<B>>, on the right side of the screen the following

will be displayed:

In the upper left hand part of the screen you can see the routing (EZE-

BOG) and below that the classes of service and the names that the airlines gives to each one of the fare families (Economy Promo, Economy Base, Economy Plus etc.). When selecting the different names of the fare families the system shows us the benefits that each fare family offers.

Perhaps the most interesting option that this addition to Worldspan has

is the button in the upper right hand corner of the screen. It says MATRIX. When you click there you will be shown a MATRIX which has all the fare families available on each flight, displaying all the benefits that are included, the ones that aren’t and those that are available only when paying for them.

Above each column you will see different icons that show the benefits

offered in each fare family and the indicators if the benefits are available or not and if they can only be obtained by paying for them.

Using the entry dee-Pricing/Power Shopper $P23SEPBUEBOG/R30SEP you get the same response.

FARE FAMILIES OR BRANDED FARES when using E-PRICING This can be launched using the entry ($P06AUGBUEBOG/R16AUG) and from the SMART PANEL you can select e-PRICING.

Besides selecting the origin and destination, don’t forget to select the airline below, where it says SPECIFIC AIRLINE. The same thing can be found at the bottom of the e-Pricing screen.

From this screen you can select the three Groups or Fare Families, each one with the benefits they offer.

Being this display simplifies the Fare Families a travel agent is now in a better position to up-sell, taking the passengers’ needs into consideration without having to look at a fare display which does not have any information about the benefits each Fare Family offers. It is also possible to do this from a regular fare display which all travel agents are familiar with. When you click on the total fare you will be shown the same window with the Branded Fare benefits.
