John and Lesley Glover attended the Annual Rover Dinner to present the Baden Powell Lodge Rover Service Award replica to the Branch Rover Council.

Nearly 200 attended, 130 of them Rovers.

John, who does a fair amount of training with the Rovers, was surprised to see one of his former Queen’s Scouts when he was a DC receive her BP Award and two former trainees receive their Rover Wood Badges.

The best surprise came when John described the relationship between BP Lodge and the Rovers. He described Freema-sonry as Scouting for men with an emphasis on Service, the ideal of Rovers, prior to his presentation. The MC and another Rover then came and spoke with him, explaining that they were new Freemasons as well as active Rovers.

The best way for our Lodge to maintain links with Rovers and to advertise Freemasonry would be for the Lodge to make up a table at the Annual Dinner, suggests John.

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a bat-tle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all. "One is Evil - It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

"The other is Good - It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kind-ness, benevolence, empathy, generos-ity, truth, compassion and faith." The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?" The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

Freemasonry is to be enjoyed ...

A 2009 study found that the

average Australian walks about 900 miles a year.

Another study found that the average Australian drinks 22

gallons of beer a year.

That means the average Australian gets about 41 miles per gallon.

Bloody good value that!

EXCELLENCE When love and skill work together,

Expect a masterpiece. John Ruskin

This means our Lodge should be fantastic … what part is missing?
