Box Oven Cooking
Things you need to have:
Box Oven made from copy paper box size 11 x 17 lined with heavy duty foil
Charcoal
Charcoal Starter
Heavy Duty foil
Pot Holders
Toothpicks
4 empty soup cans
4 flat rocks & 1 slightly heavy rock
1 cookie sheet
Lighter
Tongs
Brownie Mix
13 x 9 foil pan
1. Lay out a sheet of Heavy Duty foil on the ground shiny side up.
2. Place 4 flat rocks in the place where the 4 corners of your Box Oven will lay. This will lift
your box up enough to get the air circulating.
3. Place 4 soup cans, open side down, on top of the foil. This will allow you to lift your
cookie sheet up off the ground and allow the heat to circulate in your oven.
4. Place cookie sheet on top of cans and make sure that it is level.
5. Place your Box over everything and on the 4 flat rocks in each corner.
6. Get your Charcoal started and while they are heating up mix up your brownie mix.
7. Be sure to spray your pan really well with Cooking Spray so your Brownies won’t stick.
8. Starting figuring out how many Charcoal pieces you will need to use. Each piece of
Charcoal equals 40 degrees in temperature so in this case it will take 9 pieces of
Charcoal to cook the Brownies at 350 degrees.
9. Once the Charcoal pieces are ready, or white in color, place 9 on top of the Foil. Be
sure to spread them out so the heat will be evenly distributed in the oven. Do not get
them too close to the box edge.
10. Place the Brownie mix on top of the cookie sheet.
11. Place the box over everything and set your timer as directed on the Brownie box. In
case your day is windy or if you want to give your oven more stability, place a rock or
paver on top of your oven to keep it in place.
12. After about 30 minutes you have a pan of Yummy Brownies. Check to make sure they
are done by using a toothpick. If it comes out clean, they are done. If you need to
you can place the box back over and cook a few more minutes.
Found to be very good after taste test.
