Principal’s Message
Many thanks to all parents, carers and community members who joined us this week at our annual Presenta on Day assemblies. 2016 has been another year of significant achievement and it is always wonderful to be able to come together as a whole community when honouring the efforts of individuals, teams, and indeed the whole school.
In my address to the assemblies I also had the opportunity to acknowledge several staff who will sadly not be part of our team in 2017:
Diana O’Donnell – congratula ons on your re rement a er decades of professionalism and compassion, dedicated for so much of her career to the young children of Bowraville. We honour your contribu on to Public Educa on.
Jenny Sawyer – Our Early Ac on for Success Instruc onal Leader, who has worked hard at improving teaching and learning in the early years. Sincere thanks and all the very best for your return to the role of Principal at Smithtown PS.
Richard Clarke ‐ who will once again be enjoying a twelve month leave period – we look forward to your lengthy traveller’s tales and perhaps even longer beard upon your return to us in 2018.
Anne e Rowell ‐ who will also next year be taking a very well‐deserved period of leave in 2017. We wish you all health and happiness during your me away from us.
Stephanie Edelen – a student teacher who has joined us for Term 4 2016 from Indiana State University, USA…. Sincere thanks to the many fine contribu ons you have made to Bowraville in a short me. You have been a perfect ambassador for your university and your country, and you shall be missed by all at Bowra.
Marian Williamson – our fondest thoughts are with Marian and her family as she con nues her brave fight against serious illness.
Please find enclosed within this newsle er a copy of the Term 1 2017 school calendar. Following a well‐deserved Summer break we will all look forward to coming back together as a school community to make 2017 an even be er year.
Wishing everyone the best Christmas and New Year wishes.
