PSSA Netball
The Bowen netball team played their first knockout game against Millthorpe at the PCYC courts on Thursday 6th
May. The squad of 10 girls from years 4, 5 and 6 played exceptionally well against the very experienced
Millthorpe side but unfortunately lost their game. I was very impressed with the effort the squad put in and
proud of the sportsmanship and respect shown to each other, Millthorpe and the umpires. Thank you to Taylor
and Natasha from Canobolas High School for being fair and patient umpires, we really appreciated your time.
Thanks also go to Mrs Kate Currall who picked and trained the squad during term 1 and for making the effort to
come and watch the girls on the day. It was a lovely surprise for them. Congratulations girls!
SQUAD: Josephine O’Neil, Kalika Fuller, Shayde Bell, Shay Osborne, Jacinta Percival, April Rich, Laura
Alexander, Timia Blowes, Courtney Starr and Lat’esha Bell.
CHEER SQUAD & FUTURE NETBALL STARS: Savannah Shelley, Ti-Keisha Bloomfield, Jessica Cooper and
Madison Ewins.

Orange District Primary Small Schools Association AFL Competition
Last Friday, Bowen boys and girls played in the second round of the inaugural ODPSSA Friday afternoon AFL
competition. This has been an excellent initiative and will continue for the rest of this term. Next term the sport
may change but the inter-school sport concept will remain the same.
Both our boys and girls teams experienced great success on Friday. The girls won their match 18 to 6 and
developed their skills along the way. The boys had a wonderful win, 77 – 6. All of our children represented their
school proudly and demonstrated fantastic sportsmanship.
This week we play Bletchington PS. Please don’t forget the $2 for the bus.
Our Cross Country Selection Trial will be held this Thursday afternoon at ANZAC Park. The fastest four children
from each Primary age group will be selected to be a part of the team that represents Bowen PS at the district
trials to be held in Cudal on Friday 21st May. Please remind your child to wear their joggers this Thursday.
