What is Full-Frame Technology?
Full-Frame Positive and Negative Grids:
• Prevents electrical shorts from exposed wire.
• Provides better current transfers from all sides of the plate for greater starting power.
• Increases grids tensiles strengths resisting plate growth to safeguard against performance loss over time.
• Reinforced structure better withstands severe service or deep cycling demands.
Grid Design:
• Bosch grids come with more top frame wire connections.
• More top frame connections not only deliver more power directly through the battery, but also significantly increase the tensile strength of the grid.
• An increased tensile strength resists plate growth, which is a leading cause of battery shorts.

MAINTENANCE – CHARGING INSTRUCTIONS
1) Before placing the battery on charge after it has been in service, check its water level. If the level is below the separators at the start of charge, add only enough water to cover the separators.
2) Always check specific gravity and temperature readings before charging the battery. Correct specific gravity readings to 27°C.
3) If an automatic or taper-type charger is used, set the rate of charge according to the charger manufacturer’s instructions.
4) Do not overcharge & do not undercharge. If the battery temperature reaches 52°C during the charging cycle, the charging rate should be lowered or interrupted until the battery has cooled to room temperature. Specific gravity readings should be corrected to 27°C. For each 10°C increment above 27°C add four points to the hydrometer reading. E.g.: 32°C at 1.250 Sp. Gr. = 1.254 Sp. Gr. For each 10°C below 27°C, subtract four points from the hydrometer reading. E.g.: 21°C at 1.250 Sp. Gr. = 1.246 Sp. Gr.
5) Before charging, be sure that the electrolyte covers the top of the plates. If not, add approved water to bring level to the top of plates. Do not overfill, as the electrolyte will expand during charging. Always replace vent caps before charging. After charging is complete, follow step six.
6) Do not overfill & do not underfill the battery. Fill each cell to approximately 3mm below the bottom of the extended vent tube. Overfilling the cells when adding water results in the loss of electrolyte, lowering specific gravity and ampere hour capacity. NOTE: never add acid to a battery—use only approved water.
7) Keep battery tops dry and clean. A moist condition will result in electrical leakage across the battery to the metal hold-down clamp, causing corrosion build-up.a. With vent caps firmly in place, periodically clean
battery tops, hold-down bracket, and terminal connections with baking soda solution and a brush. NOTE: protective gloves should be worn when undertaking this procedure.
b. Check all terminals and tighten firmly. Apply a thin coating of petroleum jelly to repel corrosion.
8) Never allow battery to stand unused in a discharged condition. After each use, no matter how short, the battery should be fully recharged.
9) If the battery does not come up to full charge after following the correct charging procedure (as provided by the manufacturer of the charger used), check for low-line voltage and/or a faulty charger. If charging problems persist, please contact the distributor/reseller from which the battery was purchased.
10) If the battery’s performance is weak or slow while in service, the following checks should be performed:a. Using a hydrometer, take specific gravity readings
of all cells. If readings are above 1.225 specific gravity, apply a load test to each individual battery using a load tester, following the manufacturer’s recommended procedure and instructions. If the battery proves to be unserviceable, it should be replaced. NOTE: do not apply load tester if cell readings are below 1.225 specific gravity.
11) If the equipment being used contains multiple batteries, all batteries should be of approximately the same age.
12) If the temperature of the battery or the outside/ambient temperature is below 15°C, the battery’s performance and capacity will be reduced, and more
Bosch Deep Cycle Batteries
charging time will be required.
OFF-DUTY STORAGE
1) If a battery is stored and not kept in regular service, it should be maintained as follows:a. Maintain at full rate of charge.b. Store in a cool, dry place, ensuring the ambient
temperature is not below 0°C and not above 27°C. A battery at 1.100 specific gravity will freeze at -7°C.
c. Ensure charging procedure is completed every 45 days, or whenever the measured specific gravity reading has dropped to 1.200, corrected to 27°C.
2) The battery will self-discharge when not in use. Approximate rates of discharge are indicated below:a. At 38°C: discharge rate = 3 pts in specific gravity per day.b. At 27°C: discharge rate = 2 pts in specific gravity per day.c. At 10°C: discharge rate = 0.5 pts in specific gravity per day.d. At -1°C, discharge rate = 0.1 pts in specific gravity per day.
Proper care and maintenance of batteries used in motive power service is the key to ensuring maximum performance, sustained trouble-free lifespan, and greatly-reduced equipment operating costs.
WARNING – CARE ADVISED!Batteries produce explosive gases. Keep sparks, flames and cigarettes away from batteries at all times. Never lean over battery when jump starting or performing other maintenance.
• Hazardous according to the Criteria of WorkSafe Australia. Lead-acid batteries generate explosive gases. No Smoking - keep sparks and flames away from battery terminals. When charging or using battery in an enclosed space provide ventilation. These batteries contain sulphuric acid. If acid contacts eyes, skin or clothing flush immediately with large amounts of water. In case of eye contact with acid see physician immediately. In case of sparks, do not wipe the battery with dried textile. Store and transport in upright position.
Waste information: Battery contains lead [Pb] do not dispose of to general waste. Some components of the battery and packaging are recyclable.
