Attached to this week’s Becker Bulletin is your first (and, hopefully, only) TIPS assignment for this school year.

For those new to the school, we hold our HLA Science Fair in March. Every Friday for the next two months, students will have an assignment attached to our weekly newsletter that will be due by the following Friday (or Thursday, if there’s a holiday). By following this schedule, all students will be able to complete the project requirements AND have a completed experiment by the due date.

Please take the time to review the Science Fair guidelines and discuss ideas with your child. Then, fill out the TIPS assignment and return it by next Thursday, January 17th. I would recommend hanging the due dates up at home so that you know what is required each week!

The Week In Review Miscellaneous

SS: We just started Ch. 3, which concentrates on the European colonization of the Americas. ELA: This week, we covered sequence of events, various types of verbs, and the prefix, “intra-.”Math: We’re about halfway through Ch. 6, which focuses on multiplying and dividing decimals. Please keep working on multiplication facts at home!Science: Students are currently studying Ch. 3, which covers Earth and Space.

Word of the Week: Our word of the week was “refresh.” When you eat a healthy and balanced diet, and keep yourself hydrated, not only will your physical health improve, your mind will refresh to help fuel your brain and keep you sharp!

RemindersDays Off:Don’t forget that students have Friday, January 18th AND Monday, January 21st off from school. Sadly, teachers don’t get to enjoy the four-day weekend, as well…

Helping Hands 100 th Day Project :For our 100th day of school, we are challenging every student to bring in five cans or boxes of nonperishable food that we can donate to our local food bank. Help us help our community and donate by 1/29!

Students should neatly write each of the following words with large, legible print on the index cards sent home today. In addition, they need to mark all their words before class on Monday.
