Our Math Parent Involvement Night will be held next Thursday, October 25th, from 6-7:00. We’ll use this time to go over what we do in class, school expectations, and the curriculum. I hope that everyone can attend.

Volunteer OpportunitiesFor our Math Parent Involvement Night on Thursday, October 25th, we will need at least two parents to help with cooking duties from 12:45-1:40. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Parents will also be needed for various activities on Pumpkin Day, Wednesday, October 31st. I will need a hand doing math activities K-5 math activities.

The Week In Review Miscellaneous

SS: We are taking a test on economics and government this Monday. A review sheet was sent home today.ELA: This week, we covered persuasion, conjunctions, and the prefix “quad-.”Math: We just tested on Ch. 2, and many students are still struggling with multiplication. Please continue to work on this at home, as all math this year is based on this skill!!! Science: Students are now studying body systems in Ch. 2. A project will be coming home soon!

Word of the Week: Our word of the week was “courage.” Aristotle called courage the first virtue, because it makes all the other virtues possible. It takes courage to attempt something that you’ve never tried before, and courage to stand up for something that you believe in. It allows us to overcome fear and take action.

HLA AuctionThanks to all those who have signed up to donate coffee-related items to our auction basket. If you have yet to contribute, please do so by Tuesday, 10/23. The auction will be held on Thursday 10/25. Proceeds will go towards our school’s Butterfly Garden.

Teacher WorkdayStudents will have tomorrow, Friday, October 19th off from school. Sadly, however, teachers will be at work that day, participating in workshops. Enjoy the time off, and come back to school on Monday, ready to work!

Students should neatly write each of the following words with large, legible print on the index cards sent home today. In addition, they need to mark all their words before class on Monday.
