Bombay Bicycle Club

An English indie rock band from London. The band is a strong influence to the one in which we are

creating due to there ‘britishness’ being strongly highlighted.

From there choice of attire they appear to look like your typical high school school who lack any

expensive clothing or glamorised appearances. This also portrays the indie genre of there music as by choosing to dress this way meets with the typical

conventions of an indie band. The look the band go for is very similar to the one

we want our band to display since we want our band to appear as if they lack fame since a lot of their money wont be dedicated to their appearance.

How can you swallow so much sleep

The music video for How can you swallow so much sleep has a similar concept to our music

video since it is a stop motion animation. However, due to the low key lighting used throughout

the video it has a dark atmosphere it to which makes it

appear more indie. This video will be influencing our ideas in terms of how it is edited together. The video is edited professionally to

look like a smooth animation whereas ours isn’t perfect in terms of how smoothly the

images go together. Therefore in order to make our video more

professional we will be re-shooting certain scenes to get a

professional standard.

Since I was unhappy with my Digipak and didn’t have many ideas on how to make it look indie I decided to look at a

typical indie band Bombay bicycle club. This is purely because the band’s image and genre of music is identical to the profile we created for our band thus the album artwork will be similar

for what I wish to include on my Digipak.

The use of pale pastel colours highlight indie

which is something I could use to improve my Digipak since bright

colours wasn’t suggesting the indie genre.

The use of old fashioned/

scientific styled drawings adds an artistic element to

the band and immediately

signals indie to the audience.

Muted colours and images add an old fashioned appearance to

the CD

Simplistic design with really iconic and eye-catching images, no complex design.
