 June 2011

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

Dear Brothers and Sisters, Members andFriends of the Hill United Presbyterian Church:

On Sunday, June 26, 2011, we will not be in ourbuilding for our 10:30 A.M. Worship Service!

Instead, we will be in a joint Worship Servicewith St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in theirbuilding at the corner of East Jefferson andSouth McKean Street in Butler.

That Worship Service officially begins ourCentennial Year celebration! Our “Mother”Church is the St. Andrews congregation.

The Worship Service begins at 10:30 A.M. I willbe the preacher for the day and a time offellowship will follow that service in St.Andrews’ fellowship hall.

“Cruisapalooza” is scheduled for downtownButler that day, so parking will be at a premium. We will, however, be able to get people back andforth from our building to their building bygiving rides, if need be.

Blessings in ChristRev. Clark Sawyer

“HILL CHURCH: OUR PRESENT – OUR

FUTURE … LIGHTING THE WAY FOR

THE NEXT CENTURY”

“   Future generations will

be told about the Lord.

They will proclaim His

righteousness to a people

yet unborn.” Psalm

22:30-31

Phase II of our centennial capital campaign isunderway. During Phase II we expect to repair, refurbish and upgrade our century old Church.Projects to be completed include: replacingflooring in various areas of the church, refurbishing our fellowship hall, replacingsanctuary lighting and upgrading the Church’selectrical system.

To date, 42 members of our Hill Church familyof faith have pledged $100,083.00. Their giftswill help us to cover the approximately $140,000needed to complete these necessaryrenovations.

If you have not already done so, pleaseprayerfully consider making a pledge to ourCentennial capital campaign. Because thecampaign is being run from June 2011 throughJune 2013, your pledge can be made in smallpayments that will not put too much of a strainon your personal budget. For example, making apledge of $1,000 might be impossible for theaverage family if they had to write a check forthe entire amount today. Making this samepledge of $1,000 is much more “doable” whenthe gift is made as $10 per week for the two

 year campaign period.

Pledge cards will be dedicated on Sunday, June5th. For your convenience a pledge card isattached to this newsletter. It can be mailed tothe church office or placed in the offeringplate.

If you have any questions about the work to becompleted during the centennial capital campaignplease contact a Session member or PastoSawyer.

Please accept our sincerest thanks for yourprayers and generous gifts. We have greaconfidence in the ability of the Hill Church familyof faith to complete a meaningful campaign thatwill ensure the future of our church home forthis generation and for those that follow.
