    July 2011FROM THE PASTORS DESK

Dear Brothers and Sisters, Members and Friendsof the Hill United Presbyterian Church:

The weekend of June 25 and June 26, 2011, webegan the celebration of our Centennial Year asThe Hill Church in ministry and mission for ourLord Jesus Christ!

Over these one-hundred years of ministry led bythe Holy Spirit, think of the scores, hundreds andthousands of lives that have been touched andtransformed by the love of Jesus Christ throughthe Second United Presbyterian Church (now the

Hill Church)! St. Andrews Presbyterian is ourMother Church (once upon a time the FirstUnited Presbyterian Church of Butler).

With that in mind, on June 26th, we had awonderful joint worship service with St. Andrewsin their building on the corner of South McKeanand Jefferson streets.

Their sign of greeting read Welcome Home Hill

U.P. Church! I remarked that it is always goodto visit your Mother!

What a tremendous visit we experienced asPastor Merry Meloy and the congregationwelcomed us home with open arms. We prayedand sang together; had joint musical offeringstogether; read Gods Word and preachedtogether; finally, we fellowshipped together. Itis good to be a part of Gods people in Jesus

    Christ!

See you throughout the Centennial year!

Also, please remember to thank God and to prayfor our nation on the celebration of the Fourth ofJuly. Thank-you very much.

Grace to you and Peace from Godour Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!

    HILL CHURCH: OUR PRESENT OUR

    FUTURE LIGHTING THE WAY FOR

THE NEXT CENTURYFuture generations will be told about the

Lord. They will proclaim His righteousness

to a people yet unborn. Psalm 22:30-31

The Stewardship and MissionSupport Committee is pleased toreport that the response toPhase II of our Centennial CapitalCampaign has been wonderful. Thanks to your generosity we are84.7% of the way to meeting our goal of$140,000. $118,662 has be pledged to datewith $35,354.30 collected thus far.

As you know during Phase II we expect torepair, refurbish and upgrade our century oldChurch. Projects to be completed include:replacing flooring in various areas of theChurch, refurbishing our fellowship hall, replacing sanctuary lighting and upgrading thechurchs electrical system. So far plasteringhas been completed in the fellowship hall andboth it and the kitchen will soon be receivinga fresh coat of paint. The new flooring has

been ordered and should be installed inAugust.

If you have not already done so pleaseprayerfully consider making a pledge to ourCentennial Capital Campaign. Because thecampaign is being run from June 2011 throughJune 2012 your pledge can be made in smallpayments that will not put too much of astrain on your personal budget. For example,

making a pledge of $1,000 might beimpossible for the average family to make ifthey had to write a check for the entireamount today. Making this same pledge of$1,000 is much more doable when the gift ismade as $10 per week for the two yearcampaign period. For your convenience apledge card is attached to this newsletter. It can be mailed to the church office orplaced in the offering plate.

If you have any questions about the work to bcompleted during the Centennial Capital Campaigplease contact a Session member or PastoSawyer.
