Student Perspective

“I couldn’t believe how quickly I felt part of the boarding and Schoolcommunity. This helped me become more confident and spurred me on to get involved in school life. I gained a principal role in the Schoolmusical, became a member of the excellent Chamber Choir, got selected for the Netball 1st VII and became a senior prefect.

School House has very much been my home away from home. There is abig emphasis on family life here; at the weekends we have a number oftrips out and I have enjoyed rollerblading, paint-balling, shopping inLondon as well as the great themed parties. Life in School House is notall about fun and games, there is great emphasis on our studies, a structured programme and great work ethic. I have really loved my all round experience as a boarder at School House.” Sarah

The diversityof people from different cultures is fantastic and it has allowed me tomake so many lifelong friends. The staff are very friendly and take care ofevery individual. Their support helps us to integrate and achieve so wellat school. Trips and activities are really enjoyable and I have explored somuch of this lovely part of England.” Hon Wah

The SCHOLA Programme

Prior to the start of the Autumn (Michaelmas) term, each overseas student is invitedto attend our one-weekSCHOLA programme (Social, Cultural, Orientationand Language Assessment). This is designed to give all

new boarders the confidence to take part in school life from day one.

The course provides a thorough introduction to the School and surrounding area; it also enables an accurate assessment of individual requirements and an early introduction to the forthcoming curriculum.Every student is also assigned a mentor by the School to provide further support and advice. Those from overseas have the added advantage oflearning at first-hand about a very English part of thecountry. Their small number ensures that those whosefirst language is not English quickly gain an awareness of the language.
