Announcement from the Board of Directors On behalf of the Board of Directors, it is with a mixture of sadness and gratitude that I announce the resignation of Peter Marshall as President of The Gideons International In Canada | ShareWord Global, effective immediately. The national Board is grateful for the years of leadership Peter Marshall brought to the organization since joining Head Office in 2005. Following several years in various leadership roles, Peter transitioned to President in 2011 at the national convention in Ottawa during our 100 th anniversary. Peter’s tenure began at a time of great opportunity, having just participated in leading the Canadian ministry through its separation from the global Gideon body. But it also came at a time that required some tough decision making. The organization faced a number of significant challenges, including the absence of an international ministry arm and the need to make some long-awaited changes to modernize and rebrand the organization. Under Peter’s leadership: the association navigated through the sensitive process of expanding its membership qualifications to include women and Christians of any vocation the contemporary New Living Translation was adopted for our Scriptures innovative new Scripture resources were introduced, including our popular Scripture magazines (Hope, Redemption, Light, Spark) and the NewLife mobile app other new programs were launched in various areas of the ministry to help in engagement, fundraising, and partnership Developing an international ministry was critical for the organization’s global vision. Under Peter’s guidance, strong ministry partnerships were formed in China, India, Latin America, East Africa and the Former Soviet Union under the banner of ShareWord Global, a ministry arm Peter led in forming. Peter’s passion for Christ, coupled with his entrepreneurial skills and spirit, served the ministry well as he looked for new opportunities to share the gospel—without departing from the long-held mission of the association. Fundraising and Scripture distribution doubled, and today the ministry is poised for continued growth in impacting ever more lives with the gospel. The past few years have been marked by significant organizational changes, fast-paced innovation, and rapid global engagement. As the organization positions itself for a new phase of stability and growth based on its new foundation, the Board wishes Peter Marshall the best as he pursues other endeavours in the coming years. As the Board conducts its search for a new President, the ministry will be in the strong hands of veteran leaders: VP of International Engagement Giorgio Gori, and VP of Finance and

Business Kevin Cawthra. Both men have demonstrated great leadership since joining the staff in 2013 and have provided excellence in innovation, strategic direction, and growth in fundraising and global ministry. The Board has complete confidence in them to provide the stability, creativity, and vision that’s needed by the staff during this transitional time. I encourage you to pray for the Board as we seek the Lord’s guidance in choosing the next leader of this ministry. Yours sincerely,

Garnet Wheaton Board Chair
