STEP 1

Create a strong zig zag section one inch below the

parietal ridge.

STEP 2

Using vertical subsections, using slight tension,

cut to one finger length throughout the entire

bottom section.

Mastery point: work with soft tension in your fingers

to help create softness. ( We call this a collapsed

layer technique ) rather than an undercut.

STEP 3

Create a top section perimeter across the middle of

the ear, through to the occipital bone. Continue until

all the hair is the same length.

STEP 4

Create a “w” section at the fringe, take triangle

section and comb up to the middle. Cut downward

to create texture and not remove length.

STEP 5

Twist the sides of the fringe and blunt cut.

THE DO'S & DON'TS

#HAIRHACK

S

Page 21: blushing - Matrix Professionnel Education...MATRIX Artist, Adam Ciaccia, created 5 NEW Blushing Blondes looks. He shared with us all of his favorite formulas, techniques and hacks

The most important thing to know when

lightening and blonding is not to overlap your

lightener onto previously lightened hair.

The pre‑tone is everything! When you pre‑tone

you avoid guessing your end result & ensure you

start with a clean canvas.

Some favorite Matrix artist pre‑toners are your

Total Result Brass Off Mask, or Color Sync Sheer

Pastels Range.

It’s very important for dark hair going light, not

to blast the hair with high level of peroxide.

Have a consultation and be aware of any

previous chemical processes.

DO: Avoid Breakage

DO: Pre Tone

DONT: Over Process

Blondes are basically a blank canvas, expand the

horizon and tap into some of the Matrix Color

Sync Watercolors for fun shades. These can also

be mixed with Clear for a less vibrant result.

When lightening, use cotton to separate between

sections to ensure no bleeding or overlapping occurs.

Always use Bond Ultim8 in your lightener formulas.

This will protect the bonds & help prevent breakage.

Bond Ultim8 is a staple in every colorist kit.

DO: Play with Color

DO: Keep It Clean

DO: Protect

A highlight without a glaze is like a diamond without

its sparkle. Be sure to complete your blonde with a

glossy finish. Color Sync 8P, 10P and 10V are some

of the Matrix artists favourite shades.

DONT: Leave It Unfinished

LIGHT & BREEZY

Everyday makeup for blondes should be light and natural.

Beige or pink eyeshadow, rosy blush and neutral lipstick it is!

NOT TOO HARSH

Avoid black mascara and use medium brown instead.

THE COOLER BLONDE

Stick with cool colors when picking makeup. Green, taupe and

silver are fantastic picks for the eyes. Stay away from copper

and bronze.

TO THE BLONDE THAT’S WARM

For the honey and caramel blondes with golden skin, grab a

cherry red lipstick or shades with flicks of gold. Fairer honey

blondes have a lot of versatility and can wear almost any color,

though orange and blue‑reds will look better than a true red!

GOLDEN AND STRAWBERRY GODDESS

Play up your eyes with warm shades of purple. Peachy lipstick

is always a safe bet!

DON’T BE SHY

You don’t have to shy away from smokey eye make‑up for

the evening. Smokey eyes look good even for platinum

blondes. You should, however, use brown or dark gray

instead of black eyeshadow.
