We were invited to a woman's outdoor chairs + table. She offered us peaches, grapes from her garden + peach juice. We were invited to her home (inside) - she showed her family photos-. We communicated by gesture+ eye contact. We had a wonderful time visiting her daughter/who spoke English-we loved sharing her our ages, stories+our hearts with them. How to get there Veles: Skopje airport plus 1h30 by bus/minibus.

Transportation Both long-distance and daily transport to and from the hotel is typically in the

form of

a 15-person private minibus with a hired driver.

Lodging Hotels are simple and basic, and typically located near the project site. Each

room sleeps

2-3 people and includes a private bathroom, although occasionally bathrooms

are shared.

All facilities are screened by HFH staff to ensure that everything is safe, clean

and wellmaintained.

Food and water Breakfast and dinner: Served in the hotel or a local restaurant.

Lunch: Served on the worksite.

Meet a Habitat family

Valentina and Jovanche have

been married for 11 years. They have

twins(9), Nikola and Magdalena. From

the beginning of their married life

they have lived in the upper flat of an

old house, 32 m2, without a kitchen or

a bathroom. They have to share those

at the lower flat of the house, which

belongs to another family.

Valentina, a history professor, is ill

and requires expensive treatments

and medications. Jovanche works as a

construction engineer at Macedonian

Railways. Because of the high costs for

Valentina’s treatments and the high

interests of commercial bank credits,

they decided not to get a loan to buy

a house. They are full of hope that

with Habitat they will finally get a
