BLOOD EXPERIMENTING

We experimented with blood recipes to find the best fake blood that we could use for our short horror film opening. It was a fun day and we found that some of the results are surprising.

FAKE BLOOD #1

This fake blood consisted of:

-Washing up Liquid

-Red food colouring

This blood was very runny and wasn’t thick enough to be used for cut or wounds in any way. This blood would be very good for the slasher genre though, as it would be great for squirting up walls to create the spray of blood after someone has been stabbed.

FAKE BLOOD #2

This fake blood consisted of:

-Red food colouring

-Barbeque sauce

-Cocoa Powder

-Washing up liquid

-Flour

This blood was extremely thick and didn’t smell very nice. We didn’t think this would be a very good blood for anything as it was too thick and lumpy to be used for anything useful. No genre would have any use for this fake blood.

FAKE BLOOD #3

This fake blood consisted of:

-Red food coulouring

-Washing up liquid

-Cocoa Powder

This fake blood was the perfect blood for use in things such as wounds and around the face, It did not smell bad and the action genre could use this for blood in things such as bullet wounds and cuts. This blood was basically the first one we used with cocoa powder used to thicken it up.

FAKE BLOOD #4

This fake blood consisted of:

-Red food coulouring

-Honey

This was the final type of blood that we experimented with and it was very good. It was edible so the ideal use for this blood would be in the mouth were the victim can let it drip down the chin and even swallow it. The slasher genre would have a great use for this blood as it could be used to create an effect that the victim is coughing up blood after getting stabbed.

OVERALL

Overall, the blood experiments gave us a great opportunity to decide which blood would be best for use in our genres. We also found out how to make these different fake bloods so that we can do it at home and use them ourselves.
