PRINCIPAL NEWS School Musical

2019 will be the year of our whole school musical K-6. All students will participate in acting, dancing, singing, stage management or as

part of the band In midterm 3.

This time around we are presenting ‘Porridge’, a musical by Craig Hawes based on the bumbling theft of several well-known fairytale

characters and items. Students in Years 3-6 are currently auditioning for the major roles and opportunities will soon be available to

younger students to claim a supporting role.

Stay tuned for updates in coming weeks…

School music lessons

Several places have become available for interested students to learn guitar, keyboard or drums with our resident muso Andy on

Fridays. Individual or small group lessons and payment are organised via the Northern Rivers Conservatorium, so parents who wish to

try a secure a place should fill in the online enrolment form and select Blakebrook or contact the conservatorium schools co-ordinator

on 66212266 or www.nrcac.edu.au – it will be first in best dressed.

Lilly’s chook fundraiser – Wed arvo 2.30-3.30pm, 29 May

Lilly R has a dream…. She has been renovating a second-hand hen house as part of her Personal Interest Project, supported by Mrs

McInnes. Lilly needs to raise some funds to complete her project for the school, so she is running a ‘chook themed’ arvo for students

next Wednesday. It is a gold coin donation for each student to take part and includes a scavenger hunt and a dinosaur egg-and-spoon

race!! Lots of fun to be had!!! Please help Lilly complete her vision by supporting this fun filled event.

Wanted: Chicken wire rolls/partial rolls please for the chook pen

Community Notice: From 20 May 2019 tougher penalties apply for drink driving, including immediate licence suspension and on-the-spot fines for first time offenders.

What drivers need to know:

NSW Police can now immediately suspend the licence of any driver caught drink driving on NSW roads, including low range and first time offenders.

In the case of a first time, low range offence, a driver’s licence may be suspended for a period of 3 months, coupled with an on-the‐spot fine of $561 (Level 7 penalty notice – value as at 2018/19, subject to change).

If you receive an immediate licence suspension, you are required to hand your licence to Police, and are not permitted to drive. You may need to make alternative arrangements to get home from the roadside or police station.

If you have received a penalty notice and immediate suspension for a drink‐driving offence, you can elect to have the matter determined in court and appeal your suspension.

If you have received a penalty notice or an immediate suspension for a drink driving offence, you may wish to seek legal advice before making the decision to go to court. Higher penalties and longer periods of licence disqualification can be applied by the court and a conviction may be recorded.

Significant penalties apply for driving while your licence is suspended.
