What kind of information should I use and where do I get it from?
Books
Middlesex University Library catalogue Journals
To check availability, use the library catalogue. A journal may be available in print or online.
Example
![Page 6: Bio2003 lit searching2011](https://reader033.fdocuments.in/reader033/viewer/2022051514/54838578b4af9ff10a8b4580/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
Evaluating Internet Resources - Questions to ask
Who has written the material?
Is this a reliable source?
Is it peer reviewed?
Is it accurate and up to date?
![Page 7: Bio2003 lit searching2011](https://reader033.fdocuments.in/reader033/viewer/2022051514/54838578b4af9ff10a8b4580/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
Evaluation Presentation (Are the aims/methods/results clear?)
Relevance (Is this what I need? Will it answer my question?)
Objectivity (Balanced view? Opposing views represented?)
Method (How was the data collected? Were the methods appropriate?)
Provenance (Who is the author, site creator, organisation, scholarly/peer reviewed journals?)
Timeliness (How old is this information? Is it still accurate/relevant?)
![Page 8: Bio2003 lit searching2011](https://reader033.fdocuments.in/reader033/viewer/2022051514/54838578b4af9ff10a8b4580/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Principles of Literature Searching

Identify broader and narrower terms
