Röfors – Bridge design without drawings

� Built in 1919

� Concrete bridge, three spans.

� Total length 63,5 m width 5,1 m

� Original bridge railing changed in 1970s.

� Landmarked structure.

Phases in the project

• INVESTIGATION: New bridge or repair of the old bridge?

• DECISION: New superstructure on existing abutment reinforced with steel piles.

• DEMAND: Exact clone of the old bridge.• DEMAND: Exact clone of the old bridge.

• IDEA: Why not make it a pilot project with BIM?

Ambitions for the model

• No traditional drawings. Only 3D-model!• Swedish technical requirements for bridges (TK Bro) &

Eurocode.

• Schedule of quantities from the 3D-model.• Use the “Swedish construction standards” (BH 90) with:• Use the “Swedish construction standards” (BH 90) with:

• AMA (code system specifying standard construction tasks and objects, for technical specifications and quantities
