AbstractObjectiveToreportoutcomesforreconstructionofthenasalalausingabilobeflapincombinationwithanauricularcartilagegraft.

SettingAcademictertiarycaremedicalcenter.

SubjectsandmethodsDatawereobtainedbyaretrospectivereviewofpatientstreatedbyasinglesurgeon(SPM)fromJanuary2013toDecember2014.Patientswereincludedwhounderwentreconstructionofthenasalalausingabilobeflapincombinationwithanauricularcartilagegraft.Clinicalnotesandpostoperativephotographswerereviewedtoevaluatepostoperativeoutcomesincludingflapviability,presenceofiatrogeniclateralnasalwallinsufficiency,alarretraction,andpatientandsurgeonreportedsatisfactionwithaestheticoutcome.

ResultsAtotalof7patients(3male,4female)metinclusioncriteria.Patientagerangedfrom34to71years(mean:55years).Followuptimerangedfrom1to12months(mean:6.3months).Alldefectswerelocatedwithin5mmofthealarmargin.Defectsizerangedfrom6to15mminlargestdiameter(average11mm).Therewerenoincidencesofflaploss,alarretraction,oriatrogeniclateralwallinsufficiency,andallpatientshadresultsdeemedaestheticallysatisfactorybyboththepatientandsurgeon.
