Big Brothers Big Sisters bowling event will strike gold

Happy New Year everyone!

2012 is here and that means the Tim Hortons Bowl for Kids Sake

campaign is just around the corner.

Hot off the heels of our Regional Media Launch, the whole team is

stepping up to the plate to make this the biggest and best campaign

yet. Our agencies goal this year is to raise $130,000 through 250

bowling teams over three days. It’s quite the feat, but with

perserverance, we can get there!

As always, our Title Sponsor Tim Hortons have supported us every

step of the way. We also appreciate the coverage our media sponsors

Sun Media and TVCogeco have kindly donated. Bowling wouldn’t bepossible without our friend Angelo at the Parkway Lanes in

St.Catharines, and support from CIBC will go a long way in

helping the over 1,300 children and at-risk youth we assist through

mentorship in our community.

If you would like to take part and put in a team for our 2012 Tim

Hortons Bowl for Kids Sake campaign, our Fund Development team

celebrang its 20th anniversary! Make sure to register your team

Program Update

The fall has now come and gone and all of ourschool based programs are up and running and

stronger than ever! We are now running our

programs in a record number of schools across S

Catharines, Thorold and Niagara-on-the-Lake: 52

schools and counng! Big Brothers Big Sisters St

Catharines - Thorold & District is now proudly

offering a total of four different school based

programs: In School Mentoring, Go Girls!, Game

On and Not Just Homework Program. Thank you

to all of our volunteers who have commiedthemselves to these programs and helped this

agency to serve a record breaking number of

children. Volunteering in one of these programs

a great way to Go Back to School and Start

Something BIG!

We have a calendar!

Local photographer and board member Dave Demoe

has put together a calendar for our agency which is

now on sale! This two year calendar features pictures

from Dave’s world travels as well as right here in the

Niagara Region. The calendar can be purchased for a

donaon of $10 (a donaon of $15 is required for a

tax receipt).

You can pick up a calendar at our office, Coppola’s

Ristorante, White Oakes Confrence Resort and Spa

and from Dave at Assante Wealth Management.

At the beginning of December, we were very

lucky to have photographer Richard Sibbald

and videographer Robert Fornier travel from

Toronto to St. Catharines to capture our

programs. All the kids showcased in this

newsleer are being posively impacted by

mentorship. All of our programs are free and

are sustained by the businesses, families and

individuals of St. Catharines - Thorold and

Niagara-On-The-Lake.

Welcome Aboard!

Rachel Mills is our new Public Relaons and Communicaons Officer for ou

agency, and comes to us as a recent Brock University and Niagara College

graduate. She previously worked as the PR & Employer Development

Assistant at Brock University, and has an extensive background in popular

culture and communicaons.

To our donors...A huge thank you to all of you for your monetary,

gi and me donaons this holiday season. Without

them, many children in our community would not

be able to celebrate Christmas. We appreciate

your generosity and know that even the smallest gi

can change the life of a child in need.

JDC Danceathon!

In October, Brock University’s JDC Central group

did a Halloween themed danceathon at ThePen Centre and raised over $900! Thanks guys!

Zelda Marathon!

We are thrilled that the Penguin Producons

team were once again able to stay at the office

and raise money by playing through all the Zelda

video games and streaming it live online! They

raised $5350 for our programs!

That means the total money raised so far

through their efforts is over $20,000!

MALA Yoga event!

$610 was the total funds raised at the YogaIn The Park event in August. A big thank

you to Gina Gallo for organizing it and for everyone

who came to parcipate!

CIBC Donaon

We are very lucky to receive a large

donaon from CIBC this year. Their

generosity will go a long way in helping

our six mentoring programs flourish this
