BICOL REGION FIELD VISIT January 23-25, 2010

There are several church planters in the Bicol

region at this tme. They are:

Pastor July Albis: Ragay, Camarines Sur

Pastor Pepito Datang, Legaspi City

Pastor Rosel Carino, Irocin, Sorsogon

I had with me another church planter that flew

to Bicol region. We arrived in Legaspi City and

journeyed for long hours by bus.

Bicol has its own dialect, Bicolano. They also

have their unique kind of food and nuts grown

mostly in their region, Pili nut.

Around a week before we came, the Mayon

Volcano had been emitting dust and lava that

alarmed the region. Many were moved to

evacuation camps. By the time we arrived, the

alarm was lowered down.

Pastor July Albis: Ragay, Camarines

Sur.

We travelled for almost three hours by bus

from Legaspi via Naga City to reach Ragay.

Pastor July Albis met us and led us to his

house.

We reached his quiet little house by the side of the

railroad tracks.

Picture of Pastor July Albis and his family.

We did an interview with him which I will

send separately. Their living condition is so

simple and their use of electricity is very

basic. No appliances and other gadgets of

modern life.

We reached the place almost at sundown

and we worry about the trip going out of

Ragay since there are not much

transportation that take commuters when

the night falls.

Prayer Request:

A building for their church and for his

motorcycle to be registered to the Land

Transportation Commission (LTC) so that he

can go to other towns.

Pastor Rosel Carino, Irocin, Sorsogon

Sorsongon is more than 3 hours

from Legaspi City.

Four years ago, when I first visited

Pastor Rosel Carino, his church on

the left was made of coconut

lumber then. I heard him struggle

over the certainty of moving to this

bigger town of Irocin. Now, thischurch is very promising. In fact it

has the best church facility

compared to other churches in the

town.

Pastor Rosel started with White Fields with Juban, Sorsogon a smaller town as his target area.

After successfully planting a small church there, he aimed on planting a bigger church in a

bigger town of Irocin. Other workers laughed at his vision. But the Lord blessed his passion and

vision.

He was even able to challenge his

church in Irocin to plant another

church in the nearby town of Bulan.

This time Bulan, Sorosgon is bigger

than Irocin. This meant that they are

aiming for a bigger church again.

His church in irocin is very stable,

self sustaining and self propagating.

Pastor Rosel had two terms with

White Fields ( 2003-2005, 2006-

2009) which enabled him to plant two churches and still planting a

new church in Bulan, Sorsogon. He is a success story of White

Fields ministry.

Bulan,

Sorsogon

is more

than an hour drive from irocin. One of the elders from Irocin went with

Pastor Rosel to saturate the area

during the early days of ministry

there.

Now we can see a lively group in

Bulan as shown in the picture in the

left. They rented a former Videoke

restaurant. Folks in Bulan hear new

songs from the place.

I had the privilege of preaching the Word while I was

with the new believers in Bulan. Please pray for

Pastor Rosel Carino as he leads his churches to

growth.

Fellowship with Pastors

Pastor Pepito Datang is currently in

the program of White Fields. He is

from the stable Christian and

Missionary Alliance(CMA). His

church is right at the heart of the

city of Legaspi.

His prayer request is for the well

being of their new baby and the

studies of his other children.

Pastor Datang is a native of General

Santos City in Mindanao but

responded to the call of their

denomination to plant a church in the Bicol region. His ministry is progressing well, reaching

more people who are able to give to the church.

Pastor Lito Subido, in blue

sleeveless sports jersey hosted us

with a breakfast in their church

and home. Pastor Lito was a

recipient of the White Fieldssupport that enabled him to plant

a church. The church meets in

their home with a newly

constructed hall for their regular

meeting. Pastor Lito also gathers

around him a number of pastors

for a basketball team. He likes to

lead pastors in the city.

The one in striped sweater is Pastor Joel Alfonso who went with me to help me cover some

videos of the visit.

There are other graduates of White Fields in the region but we just don’t have time to gather

everyone.

Please pray for the churches in this region as they experience the threat of calamities from

storm and volcano eruption.

They hope that Mayon Volcano will always look as calm as this.

Going back to Manila with the assurance that our

ministries are doing well in the region.
