Heart of Asian Manufacturing Tech Market
The recent conclusion of the milestone Korea-China bilateral free trade agreement isexpected to create new and greater opportunities in the enormous Chinese market via Korea.
Moreover, the scheduled integration of ASEAN economies in 2015 will enhance the value ofKorea as a hub for all of Asia, which owns the lion’s share of the global manufacturing and
machine tool market.
Creative Economy Inspiration & Test-Bed for ICT Convergence
Korea is forging ahead with its agenda for a creative economy, commercializingtechnologies based on its world-leading position as an ICT powerhouse, featuring the
integration of software and hardware in manufacturing technology, which is thefoundation for a new paradigm in the manufacturing and machine tool sector.
Customer-Oriented Innovation in DNA
Based on the principle of “SIMTOS of the clients, by the clients and for the clients,”SIMTOS organizers are constantly pursuing innovation, responding to the changes in
the global industrial and economic paradigm, to ensure that SIMTOS maintains itsstatus as a world-class manufacturing technology marketing platform.
Steady, Stable Expansion of Korean End-User Industries
Beyond challenge and potential limitations, Korea's machine tool end-user industries are stagingstable, steady expansion. Korea, currently the fifth largest producer and fourth largest consumer of
machine tools in the world, is home to such world-class industries as automobiles (world’s fifthlargest manufacturer), shipbuilding (second), steel (sixth), semiconductors (third), etc.

Domestic demand for steel is
forecast to reach 56.6 million
tons in 2015, a 1.5% year-on-
year expansion, while automobile
demand is projected to grow to
1.66 million units, a 1.7% on-
year increase.
The report showed shipbuilding
construction edging up 0.9% to
1.11 million CGT, while general
machinery production is
expected to expand 2.7% year-
on-year.
Amid the relatively mild growth
in domestic demand in 2015,
Korea's overall facil it ies
investment is expected to
increase 5.5%, compared with a
5.3% on-year growth in 2014,
according to the KIET forecast.
Despite the small increases in
domestic demand and
investment, profit levels at Korean
enterprises are not expected to
improve due to tougher
competition in the respective
markets, KIET noted.
Korea's major manufacturing industries are expected to post mild growth in 2015 compared with the previousyear. According to Korea Institute for Industrial Economics & Trade (KIET) report, the majority of Koreanmanufacturing industries, except for petrochemicals, will rebound slightly in 2015.

opportunities for exhibitors, the SIMTOS-
unique Matchmaking4U program features
client-by-client matchmaking
arrangements under the motto “We Are
Ready to Be Your Sales Dept. 2.”
To maximize the potential for realizing the
greatest benefit from the Matchmaking4U
process, SIMTOS organizers arrange pre-
show meetings between buyers and
exhibitors, thus increasing the efficiency,
productivity and value of meetings during
the show period.
Both domestic and overseas participants in
the matchmaking sessions of SIMTOS2014
voiced high satisfaction with the SIMTOS-
style program. For example, Mike
Nicholson, Sales & Marketing Director of
MachineWorks Ltd., a UK-based global
leader in CNC simulation and verification
solutions, said, "In our experience, this
program is not common, although we
participate in EMO and IMTI. We believe
that it is a unique program and a great
service for meeting the right companies
and the right contacts."
