C&D Drug Store was opened in August 1958 by Charles Oates and Dale Walker. C&D stands for Charles and Dale. C&D Drug Store’s location has housed a drug store since 1877, making it one of the oldest drug stores in Arkansas. In 1984, the store underwent a major renovation and expanded into the area that formerly housed Carpenter’s Jewelry. Also included in the expan-sion was the drug store’s snack bar. The snack bar seats 36 and is a popular lunchtime spot for employees from the Pope County Courthouse and other downtown businesses. Another remodel and update to the store occurred in 2004. These changes incorporated a pharmaceutical compounding area that allows the drug store to custom compound medications for patients. C&D is one of the few compounding pharmacies in the area.

R.D. Walker is a pharmacist and the owner of C&D Drug Store. In 2009, Walk-er’s niece, pharmacist Yanci Walker, joined the pharmacy staff which also includes pharmacist Melinda Reams. R.D. and Yanci are honored to be named Best Pharmacist. From the store’s beginning, the motto of C&D has been “courtesy and service.” This attitude continues today.

“AT C&D, we think we have the best customers in the world. They have been very loyal to our store for many years,” R.D. Walker said.

The store prides itself on customer service. The associates in the electronics metroplex area treat each customer with respect and are willing to go above and beyond to help customers keep up with the changing demands in technol-ogy. From cell phones to Apple iPads, our associates take time to help cus-tomers feel as though they can leave the store knowing they received the best service and best prices possible in today’s growing electronics marketplace.

We realize that if it were not for all of our great customers and outstanding associates, we would not be in business. For that, we are very appreciative for the business and recognition that comes with this award.

We will continue to grow with the community and focus on bringing what the customer wants and needs in the years to come.

River Valley Furniture was founded in 1995 by a family from Atkins who be-lieved that if you treated customers in a way that you would want to be treated, they would succeed. They were right.

Since 1995, they have gown to be one of the leading furniture stores in the state of Arkansas. They have been a member of the Arkansas Furniture Asso-ciation board of directors for the last six years, and now serve as its treasurer.

They are thankful for the blessings God has given their family through their cus-tomers and throughout their lives. Danny and Darlene, although retired, still keep a watchful eye over the boys and always ensure that the River Valley will always be taken care of. As Danny always says, “River Valley Furniture south of high prices.”

John Newton became a licensed real estate agent in March 2005 after spending 24 years as the owner of Newton Tire Co., saying he was lucky to be able to transfer from one great profession to another.

As a Realtor, he has been a multi-million dollar producer every year since 2006, and was a diamond producer in 2010. He has served on the Russellville Board of Realtors since 2007, starting that year as secretary-treasurer. He served as vice president in 2008 and president in 2009.

Newton is married to Susan, an assistant director of pharmacy at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center. They have two children. Their daughter, Mor-gan, just completed her junior year at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville majoring in biology. Their son, Michael, is finishing his junior year at Russell-ville High School.

He was thankful being named the Best of the Best.“I really want to thank all of my friends and customers who have allowed me

to work with them,” he said. “I love my job and I love my workplace so much, that I hardly think of it as a job. Most that know me, know they can reach me 24/7, seven days a week. I’m passionate about what I do, and I’m willing to do what it takes for buying and/or selling your home.”

Dianna’s Custom Interior Inc. opened in March 1989 providing custom draper-ies, top treatments, bedding and specialty items, as well as all major brands of blinds and shades. With an in-house workroom, they are able to make almost any window look beautiful. After more than 22 years serving the Arkansas River Valley, there is almost no “challenge” window or bed they haven’t tackled.

After receiving an Arkansas State Contractors license in 2007, Dianna was able to expand her successful residential and small commercial business to include large commercial projects, particularly nursing homes, throughout Ar-kansas, including those in Russellville and Dardanelle.

“I am so pleased and humbled to receive this honor,” Hill said. “Thank you to all of the many friends I’ve made throughout the years as you’ve welcomed me into your homes.”

“My sincere thanks to each and every one,” she said. “We couldn’t have made it without you. Thank you River Valley for 22 great years. I’m looking forward to more.”

In a world where corporate scandals continue to dominate the headlines, it’s refreshing to discover a business founded on traditional values. Such values can be found at Russellville’s D&R Paints located at 905 E. Main St.

“Dad built the business on honesty and integrity,” Chad Freyaldenhoven, the sec-ond-generation owner of the paint store, said. “Of all the things he taught me, the one that sticks hardest in my mind is ‘always keep it honest.’ That has pretty much been the guiding principle since the beginning, and it still holds true today. We ap-ply that principle in all of our business dealings, with customers and vendors alike.”

Chad’s father, Ed, purchased the business when it was just two years old. In 2008, a second location was opened in Clarksville. Chad is certified as a Pro-tective Coating Specialist as well as an EPA Lead RRP Certified Renovator, Certified Renovation Firm, and Accredited Training Provider.

If you are new to the area or just looking for a new paint guy, make D&R Paints your first stop.

D&R PaintsFrom the beginning, Luxury Pool & Spa has been a family-owned business.Kenny Lawson began building pools across Arkansas in 1976. Seven years

later, he opened Luxury Pool & Spa in Russellville. Lawson’s two sons, Shane and Jeremy, began spending their summers learning the trade at a young age.

In 2005, Luxury Pool & Spa expanded to Conway and is managed by Jeremy.Quality was the main goal when he chose to carry Hot Springs spas. The

Conway store sells Caldera spas and, like Hot Springs spas, are manufactured by Watkins Manufacturing Company and are known for their comfort and style. Both lines of spas provide hydrotherapy by massaging you where your body stores its stress, and the spas are extremely energy efficient.

Customer service has been Luxury Pool & Spa’s No. 1 priority through three generations of pool builders. “Live the life of luxury” is their motto.

“After 30 years, I still feel honored to be voted as one of the best. Thank you to all our customers and continued trust in us,” Lawson said.

Lee Ann’s daughter, Rachel Hardester, is manager of the store and has worked with her mother since the opening of the store on Fourth Street in Sep-tember 1995. Lee Ann’s has two graduate gemologists on staff and another, Jennifer Rud-der, who will soon finish the courses needed to become the third. Jennifer has been with Lee Ann’s for eight years. Other staff members are Harold Windle, goldsmith-jeweler at Lee Ann’s since 1998 — the best jeweler-goldsmith in the Arkansas River Valley; Suzanne Allcroft, who has been with Lee Ann’s for five years and is the repair specialist; Shaye Fisher, who has been with Lee Ann’s for two years as the Pandora specialist and is taking GIA courses in diamonds; and Kelsey Peak, with Lee Ann’s for 11⁄2 years as the Pandora assistant. A new associate, Cindy Isch, will join the staff later this month. “At Lee Ann’s we strive to be the best at what we do,” Hartley said. “The jewelry business has definitely changed over the last two years with the price of gold soaring, but Lee Ann’s has made the most of it by carrying new brands such as Pandora, Jewel-Pop by Kamelion and several new watch lines, includ-ing a personal signature line called Lee Ann’s. We would like to invite everyone to come by the store at 805 E. Parkway Drive and let us add you to our family of satisfied customers.”
