To be an EXAMPLE to the

world by living according to

Christ’s teaching. Whatever we

do reflects Jesus. The world has a very high expectation on us as Christians. We may be young but don’t let our youth stop us from showing Christ’s example in our speech, conduct, love, faith and purity. (1 Timothy 4:12)

Living GOD’s WAY is actually living a clean life based on Biblical principles. How can we as young people live a clean life in a dirty world? Pray to GOD and read the

Bible daily to seek His will. Do not compromise with anything that is

against the Bible and set an example to those around us by living our lives accord-ing to Christ’s teaching. We are young but we can make a difference in our society if we keep GOD’s law in our hearts!

FOOD FOR THOUGHTS

To take an UNCOMPROMISING

stand with what is against the

Biblical principles. We live in a multi-religious, multi-cultural and multi-language world. Therefore, be careful to accept or agree on the things which may

sound or look good and true but are not! (Romans 12:2)

To READ the BIBLE every day

as this will help us to understand God deeper. Young people seldom pray to GOD and read the

Bible simply because they do not make time to do them. Everyone has 24-hour per day so use the time wisely! (Matthew 4:4)

Many of our Christian youths today are struggling in their faith because they do not know GOD or do not take the WORD of GOD seriously in their lives. When the knowledge about GOD’s WORD is shallow, we can easily fall into temptation and live according to the ways of the world, which is sinful. GOD’s WAY is pure so HE wants us to live a pure life too.

What is required to live a pure life? How do we live according to GOD’s WORD? Let’s

look into the keyword “PURE” (acronym) so that we can learn together and take it as a reminder to all of us as we live in this challenging world.

To live a PRAYERFUL life. Praying to God means

communicating with God. When we communicate, we establish a relationship. The more frequent we pray, the closer our relationship with God will be. Prayer is a very powerful weapon that turns Satan away because our souls connect to the most powerful GOD! (Psalm 145:18-19)

“How can a young mankeep his way pure?

By living according to YourWORD……. I have hidden

Your WORD in myheart that I might not sin

against you.”

Region 6Get involved in the church ministry, whether big or small. Never give up getting involved in the church commu-nity because your labour is not in vain in the Lord. “He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much” (Luke 16:10). Everything you do that is with love leaves a legacy to others. Ministry is a process which the outcome will be beautiful and wonderful if Jesus be the center. – Tracy Freddy

Pemuridan yang lebih kepada muda mudi masa kini, di mana sumbangann-ya dapat melahirkan generasi yang boleh menginjil dan tidak mudah terpengaruh dengan anasir yang tidak sihat ketika mereka berada di tempat lain. – Joeyce Ann Henry

Basically three words: Conviction, Competent and Character. – Stanley KiewMengadakan persekutuan atau sesua-tu yang dapat menghasilkan generasi baru iaitu pelayan Tuhan. – Mleny Anjell N.

Region 3For me, why the church? Why not impact the world outside instead? Starting with His image that we carry now, show others the meaning of His teachings. Help the poor, share with those who hunger and thirst for His words, take care of the nature, forgive and love one another. – Justice Gimang,

Spread God’s love in this world, to love the unlovable and to show compassion just as Jesus have told us to love Him and to love our neigh-bours. – Victoria Ahlim

By sharing our gifts to others, so that it will be a blessing to others. Don’t forget to be kind to one another. – Lydia Kelimah

Inculcate God fearing attitude in you. Live, breathe and practise Godly attitude. – Sebastian Sidi

One of the ways to impact the church is by having a servant heart. Those who have a servant heart have the accountability and real submission to one another. Many have different talents and gifts but can’t fully commit. I believe that the heart must come first, and God will bless us more with talents and gifts for those who are obedient. – Marlyn Gandau

To impact the Church of tomorrow, we have to be an impact to the youths of today as they are tomorrow’s church. I would do my best in encouraging the youths, building relationships with them, guiding them in their spiritual walk, make them feel that they belong not only to a church, a ministry but a place where they can be the best that God has planned for them to be and also that they matter! For me, to just impact one youth, this would be able to make such a difference in his/her life. So imagine, if all of us as one church continues to do the same, what an impact it could give to tomor-row’s church! One small good deed can make a big difference. – Evonne Mendu

Region 2Approach the congregations, start with a warm smile, say hello and invite them to join the church activities consistently. – Miccoltte Macmillen

Be hospitable to newcomers, have regular fellowships, serve the church and the community, contributing money to the needs of the church and to continue to pray for one another. – Aaron Janggu

Be more involved with the youths in the church and working together for more greatness in the future. – Calvin Dahlin

Inviting the youth after confirmation to join youth activities such as monthly fellowships, mission outreach activi-ties and youth camps. Welcoming new church member to join Bible study. – Valerie Landan K.

It is important for us to know the purpose of being the followers of Christ and that is to glorify God in His works. Our lives should serve purpose with a heart of loving others (agape love) and a life of service for others. – Venezia Doning

We are so blessed to have social media and I believe we can utilize it extensively to share the Word of God and to promote the Gospel to other people. There is no excuse for a person to say “I don’t have time for evangelism” – Timothy Lanchang

Become a channel of blessing to the young ones. Be a good example, show good leadership and a spiritual leader. Guide them to become the next leaders for the church because they are God’s generation. – Leslie Gunting

Region 1Always check ourselves. Our attitude makes who we are. –Lydia Z. D.

The church starts at home. Family entity must be strong in order to give the good example to others as well as the church. – Felicia Empina

Support the church through donations and prayer for the church and evange-listic activities. – Ezekiel Ajai

A firm foundation (Sunday school/PYF) of the church will incul-cate a firm faith in generations to come. – Mrs Christy H Lim

ADYC EXCO LEADERS’ RETREAT

The Anglican Diocesan Youth Council (ADYC) organised its first Exco Leaders’ Retreat on the 6th – 8th March at Premier Hotel, Sibu. The retreat aimed to discuss ADYC’s goals and strategies in leading youth people in the Diocese.

The discussion was facilitated by Revd Andy Shie, where he highlighted ADYC’s functions in terms of the 5W1H (Who, What, Where, When, Why and How). He also explained interactively about the ADYC constitution’s main objective in depth and discussing what are the qualities of a Christian leader and how he or she can transform the lives of others.

Ps. Stephen Chin opened the retreat with a devotion taken from Matthew 26:41“WATCH and PRAY so that you will not fall into tempa-tion. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is

weak”. He urged ADYC Exco members to watch, pray and observe their surroundings as they prepare themselves to engage with their youths.

The ADYC President, Sis. Phyllis Montegrai, led the main session where leaders were asked to outline the ADYC’s Strengths, Weak-nesses, Opportunities and Threat (SWOT) in order to identify how ADYC can move forward. She ended her session declaring ADYC’s vision and strategies, headed towards having a ‘God-fearing’ generation.

ADYC Exco Leaders Retreat

Through the personality test, we learned what type of leader we are which helps us to understand ourselves, identify our weakness-es and use our strengths to serve the Lord’s kingdom better.

Even though we had a packed schedule, we had plenty of time to fellowship and share with each other. We all have our own testimonies to share and I was amazed at the miracles things God has done in our lives. YLS, for me, is an opportunity that should be taken and not missed. Our life on earth is not about us but it is to glorify God and take care of His creations.

TESTIMONY 1Prepared by, Joshua Chu Soon Qin

When I was selected to join the Youth Leadership School (YLS) in December 2014, I was eager to join. This year, YLS was held at the House of Epiphany, Kuching and Mt Singai. Despite the delayed flight and not being able to contact any- one, my friend and I were thankful for the friends who waited for us at the airport.

YLS is a life-changing experience for me as I learned to trust, believe and have faith in His plans for us. We also learned about how Christians are being tested for their faith.

TESTIMONY 2Prepared by Romario anak Sanggat

ADYC Courtesy Visit

The team was excited to witness the youths eagerness in worshipping Jesus.

On Sunday, the team attended the Sunday Mass with the PDAP congregation. Revd Kelvin celebrated and preached at the service with the “Ruko” youth leading worship. After the service, they had Sunday School for children from surrounding areas. Shelly and Frankie co-organised the activities including games and Christian values-based stories. While waiting for lunch, the team joined in the discussion to evaluate and update on the Sunday School Activities where they learned that the PDAP had to get the consent of the community to hold any Church activities. After lunch, the team met the leaders from PDAP where Shelly gave a testimony and Frankie shared on the topic “Stand Firm in Christ” and “10 Wrong Assumptions on Christian Life”. After the sharing, they broke into groups to pray. In the evening, the team was brought around Pontianak for sightseeing.

The team left Pontianak early on 8/2/15. Overall, it was a memorable trip for the team members as they felt encouraged by the perseverance and the joyful, serving heart of the PDAP leaders as they gave their very best to the ministry despite their limitations.
