What is a belief?

A belief is a confirmed thought.

Richard Bandler called it “a command to the nervous system”

Some distinctions about beliefs• A belief doesn’t have to be true to be believed;

• Thoughts are confirmed through: books, authority, repetition, intensity, religion, familiarity, logic, fits with common sense of our culture;

• Our brain doesn’t have an automatic mechanism to keep out toxic beliefs -- and therefore our beliefs can harm us;

• This is because our bodies seek to make real our beliefs;

• We can dis-confirm our beliefs. Not through “command negation” (tabooing or rejecting it), but by saying No to the ecology of it.
